The territory of the Song of the Volcanic Grotto is primarily rough, volcanic rock. Water collects in pools and does not easily soak in. Where the ground is porous, seeps fill with water out of the soil based on an odd characteristic of the magma chambers below. The rock makes for few trees and shrubs, but tough grass is plentiful in the right areas, and the elevation provides a commanding (and safe) view of the surrounding desert. Wind-carved grottoes are common in the hard rock, and are often shady and (relatively) cool during the day.
