The Fire and The Storm

Thunder boomed and lightning lashed out against the cloudy, water filled skies. Rain pounded against the ground like little angry fists, as it joined a rushing river of water over land, against the trunks of many trees, and over rocks and stones that had lain previously unhindered by such vicious attacks from above. Long as the day was, the night would be longer, as it was moonless and starless. The blackest of clouds wished to rage, and rage they did, as though angry at the sun that scorched and gorged them so. If only those stupid clouds did know that their rain was falling the wrong way.

It was annoying. Unbearably. Annoying.

“Humph.” Grunted the grumpy mare as she stared longer into the sheets of falling water, which continued to pound into the ground in endless anger. She wasn’t driven into the cave by this water, she simply felt like being in the cave and not dealing with the rain. She closed her lower eyes with a long sigh of disproval and turned deeper into the cave, where a fire was dying out. She scraped the three sets of talons into the stone ground and waved her flame tipped tail almost angrily through the air as she continued towards the fire.

She rattled and clanged softly as her chains swayed with every step, pops and snips coming from her fiery hair at all the restless movement, echoing into the cave her displeasure. Her fire would not be put out by such measly water, which was not a concern of hers. She simply became annoyed at the rain. It was displeasing, annoying, too dribble-y, it took up her sky and her time. It was rude to boot.

Slowly she lay down onto the coal filled fire remains, her spine mounted back facing the entrance to the cave. She curled her talons a bit and fixed her legs close to herself to keep on as much of the coals as she could. Her bright fire flickered and shimmered, sending shadows right out of the long cave to be killed by the rain. She moved one middle leg a bit to steady herself more and wait, more than likely to fall fast asleep from the warmth she created. And if the rain continued when she woke – there would be hell to pay for that.

Rain slid over shimmering midnight scales, as pale eyes peered about with wild intent, the long body curving and diving in the currents of air that drove the rain to and fro, slashing in all different directions- a winter storm, though it was not chilly enough for snow- only the freezing needle pin-prick of icy droplets. He relished every little sting against his coat, the cold not bothering him one bit.

His other-worldly mane did not quiet, sputtering and flickering like a bolt of energy in the tumult of the storm, his large wings spread to catch any gust of wind to control to propel him forward. A tail like a scythe whipped through the dark skies, striking as though for a final kill.

This was living. Cyclone barrel-rolled through the air currents, relishing every moment of chaos and loss of control- he relinquished control to the fury of the storm, though he never once felt as though he might be jerked up higher into the clouds or driven down to drop like a stone. He felt weightless and powerful- this was his core, in the heart of the thunderheads.

He gritted his teeth as the rain quieted just a bit, still pouring, but no longer driving into the body of any creature foolish enough to venture outside. His muzzle scrunched up in almost a pout as he eyed the land below for the first time in many hours, since he had begun flying at dawn. He needed more, this side of the storm was weak and failing, limping along now on the last notes of angry song. He banked eagerly upon hearing the rumble of thunder, cutting through rain and currents as he shot like an arrow towards the sound and delicious vibrations running through the air.

He let out a loud, high-pitched whistling call as the thunder crashed around him, diving to spin in another vertical barrel roll, his wings tucked in tight as he felt every fiber of his being come alive with the crackle of electricity and the pounding of the drums. Foolish little Samanayrs, missing this- did they not understand what they might be missing? Did they even care to try running or flying or just standing in awe of such a mighty storm?

A giddy little noise came from his muzzle, before he turned suddenly at a pine tree that came across his vision, and he scowled as he realized he’d now have to land, as the winds were against him, and it would be too hard to climb back up.

He landed with a loud THUD! in a small clearing in front of what appeared to be a cave- not that he cared. His dark body twitched at being forced to ground- he could get along just fine by walking and coiling his body, but he still did not care for it. He peered around sharply through the driving rain, before looking back towards the cave. That way, perhaps, for a rest?

Dark, red eyes fell lower and lower, letting all that they looked toward become unfocused and fuzzy. All that she could discern was the flickering changes of light that was shed by her never stilling fires. It was calming, and almost took her mind off of the blasted and disgusting world that awaited her outside. It was inevitable that she would have to go out there, and far sooner than she wished.

The warmth of her fire, with its splutters and pops, and soft hissings almost made her want to fall asleep. She was warm and comfortable, and that was really all she needed to sleep comfortably until she was awoken by forces unknown – or her hungry stomach. Food… her mind started buzzing with questions. What would she be able to catch? Would it taste good? Furry or scaly – and if it were furry then there was no way she would allow a wet meal down her throat, wet fur was disgusting, and a hassle to get off. She snuffed faintly and tucked her hooked snout under her foreleg, where the flames that made home there tickled her nose and joined her mane in the plight to rise upwards.

She sighed softly, quieting her mind of its food peculiarities. She was going to let herself sleep until she woke and that would be how that would go. With all her eyes shut tight, she curled up just a bit tighter and waited for sleep to come to her.

She had nearly fallen asleep when she heard an unnaturally loud thud come from outside the cave. Her bat like ears quivered and perked up, angled towards the mouth of the cave. Slowly she lifted her head and opened all four eyes, looking towards the outside world with narrowed eyes. Something was out there, and if it was just some fallen tree limb, then she could return to sleep easily. Slowly she stood on all six legs, standing still for a long moment, eyes narrowed towards the rainy outside world.

Water droplets ran down large bat-like wings that were raised in a half-shield formation, his tail shedding diamond drops like venom from a scorpion’s spiked tail. Ignis sputtered and spiked up, as though taunting back and forth with the heaven’s crying, glowing with pale ghostly light, illuminating Cyclone’s dark coat as he thumped his coiled lower body against the wet mucky earth once.

A soft sigh passed his lips as he eyed the cave, still wishing to take off into the skies again, to twirl and dive and climb like a leaf torn asunder by the wind- such freedom was like a drug that overtook the system. Yet sometimes, such freedom also felt rather empty, like a wide summer sky with no hint of clouds- while there was space, there was no challenge. As time had passed, even storms had begun to feel empty- he needed something new, some new bolt of energy to enter his life- though he might not wish to admit it yet.

He slid forward over the ground towards the yawning mouth of the cave, deciding to rest his body on ground- he may like the rain, but he did not wish to be disturbed or surprised in his sleep. He would be an easy sight in the midst of a clearing in daytime, and even at night he would not be fully secure. His eyes glowed brighter as he approached the cave, spotting some flash of color within the shadows- but he shook it off, ignoring it- some sort of bug, perhaps. Bugs were colorful and took shelter from the rain.

Purgatory walked towards the mouth of the cave, her talons every so often clawing into the sand and stone ground. As she got closer and closer to the front of the cave, she noticed a flickering light that did not go away with the flashes of lightning in the skies above. Granted, the rain was not nearly as hard as it had been before, a slight improvement, though she still didn’t feel like leaving the cave’s cold protection, she was still tired either way – rain or not.

She lifted her pale, wildly colored wings, letting them catch a bit of air as a cool down, before closing them tight against her sides again with the faintest of leathery rustles. She held her tail, with its wild reaching flames, up a bit, so that it stretched above her spine-covered back. With all this ‘natural’ light there was no way she wouldn’t be able to see what she was looking for. Slowly she felt her legs grow still as she stopped, staring at the thing that was outside the cave, though coming closer by the moment.

It was another Samanayr, with hair of blue-white fire, much like the flashes that the lightning in the sky did strike during the wild storms, such as the one that had just been roaring above ‘her’ cave. Her smaller eyes narrowed as she watched the unfamiliar creature. He had only forelegs, no hind legs, or even an extra pair. She sniffed faintly, only smelling the wild breeze and always fresh scent of rain. Perhaps this dark colored Samanayr was a creature of the storms itself, for there was no other comprehensible reason for a two legged, giant winged Samanayr to be out in the rain without a purpose. Bracing her legs apart, she watched this slithering creature of rain and fire, waiting to be noticed before deigning to speak.

He slithered forward across the ground slick with mud, using wide wings and coiled muscles to propel himself forward without actually taking flight and risking being battered against trees, rock, or earth. His pale eyes glowed still in the shining rain and amongst the gray atmosphere he stood out like a vibrant living shadow. He raised his head, sensing something underneath the scent of storm winds and wet earth- a smell like smoke, ash- the scent of fire, a fire that was duller than his white-hot lightning- but perhaps more vibrant in range of color.

A fire, here? He glanced about, snorting- no fire could withstand this storm, right? A flicker caught his eye again, before he hurriedly slithered forward, clicking out. “Who is theyre?” His white-hot fire flared against the gray around him, his eyes narrowed in thought, as he prepared to take off into the storm’s embrace once again.

She watched the interesting way that the poor legless creature moved forward. Of course, there was an art to such movement, and he had portrayed how ‘easily’ he could move, even without an extra set of legs. All four eyes narrowed as its nose worked, and finally seemed to detect her. Or at least, her smell. How could this stormproof creature not see what was right in front of its eyes? Her legs tensed a bit, slowly letting herself lower, just a bit, towards the ground.

“Who is theyre?” Ah. A male. That would explain it. She stopped herself from sniffing, and glanced around the cave. If he were dangerous, there was no way that she would allow herself to be caught in here. She slid forward, quiet as ever, her wings opening just a bit as they covered her fiery legs, their vibrant colors becoming illuminated by the ‘hidden’ fires. She slinked along to her right, a bit away from the other Samanayr. Her head slid out of the protection of the cave, and her fire almost immediately retaliated against the onslaught of the annoying attacks from above. It snapped and popped, trying to rage up higher, exclaim its disgust in such evil treatment.

“I’m heyre.” She replied, though it was not a real answer to his question. Her smaller eyes were shut tight, clear and protected against the rain that clouded vision so annoyingly. But her large eyes were trained upon this invader of privacy – although it wasn’t even her usual cave that she claimed home to.

Cyclone was surprised that he had not spotted the other Samanayr’s presence sooner- that it took focusing to draw the other to his attention. Apparently the turning and spinnings had addled his perception? He snorted at the very idea- ridiculous. He was not off his game- he was just taking his time, that is all. No reason to doubt his own skills and senses. His long hooves dug into the ground after he spoke, seeing phantom lights through the driving rain, before a form took shape from shadow and sheets of water, vibrant hot lights flaring as the rain graced fire.

A Samanayr with a voice of a female’s, but with a sharp edge- very uniquely falling upon the pricked, fine-tipped ears of his. He raised a hoof and stomped it down with curious thoughts, tilting his head to either side, wings flaring out, framing his pale ghostly light flickering atop the crown of his skull. He clicked his teeth, saying slowly. “Waiting silent in the shadows? Who is this luyrkeyr?” It had been awhile since he had swapped words with another- strange to see someone else adorned with the living fire of ignis.

He moved closer again with one brash movement, to get a better look, out of curiosity. A cave-dweller who cast her own light, with a bright color scheme so different from his own dark pallet. And legs- many legs, if the glimpses he gained were right. She was still not clear in sight, with the rain and the shadow and the dimming evening. His wings fluttered over her back.

She kept her small eyes shut and her large ones wide open, keeping herself ready for anything. But trying to keep ready at all times was annoying when rain continued to fall like a vengeance had been sworn upon anyone who resided below. Her popping mane snapped and sizzled louder still. It, too, was angry at this assault from above. It couldn’t contain such anger as easily as her mind could. Though that she did enjoy, her fire spoke the anger she contained, perhaps this was her own, ever so efficient coping mechanism. Well, as long as her fire sounded scary, then she might as well let anyone else believe that she too were always as scary.

Her tattered ears quivered as she listened to the male speak again. He was… very… serious. Her ears twitched back. Serious Samanayr’s were annoying to deal with, simply because she was serious, and whenever two serious Samanayr’s met up, it was never ‘fun’. Of course, she could care less about ‘fun’. She was tired, and angry at the rain, and if this stallion didn’t figure that out soon enough, his flaming head would be hers to do with as she pleased. That almost elicited a laugh out of her – which was an entirely foreign sound in her throat. “Waiting silent in the shadows? Who is this luyrkeyr?”

Her own wings shuddered as they kept close to her fiery legs, keeping in as much warmth as she could, which would help her ignore the annoying beatings from above. Her middle pair of talons scrapped hungrily through the ground as she watched the stallion lurch forward in a way that could hardly be called lurching. “As a stallion like youyrself, I find it moyre pyropeyr that you name youyrself befoyre you ask pesky questions.” She sniffed, loudly, and then continued with a shake of her head. “My name is Purgatory, stallion.”

She was fiery, this mare who flickered with the lights of a wildfire, atop her vibrant-marked neck, serpentine in movement. She had a hooked snout, a thin face, and talons that stuck into the ground. Her legs were like flickering coals, holding the sharp and intense body that seemed to breathe fire. She was more interesting than those flat-rate Samanayrs he usually came across- well, more interesting in looks. Maybe she would end up being one big letdown. You never knew.

His eyes narrowed, watching her large eyes stare back at him as she gave him a scathing remark. The words stung a bit, heated as opposed to the cold droplets that had been soaking into his bones. His muzzle parted, saying smoothly, while watching her still. “I am Cyclone, the pesky questioner.”

Purgatory watched the strange stillness of the stallion as he regarded her. She let him create whatever thoughts in his head he wished. She just wanted to sleep, and the prattle of rain against her body and into her blazing fires was starting to annoy her a bit more. But his fire, white and rather… purple, was it? White light, she would call it. It was impressive enough, she supposed, but the wild and yet vibrant markings on his large wings were rather catchy, in a strange way.

“What an appropriate name.” she said mildly, slowly moving herself back underneath the rocky ceiling so that she could escape the annoying droplets that worked her body so. “So tell me, pesky questioner, why are you finally running from this storm, when the heat of it has slowed down so?” it wasn’t like she could run him from this cave, it wasn’t even hers to run anyone out of. Smoothly she gave one bat of her wings, causing the six fires on her legs to flare up with hungry intent, before returning to their cooler state as her wings folded a bit more, but stayed hanging at her sides.

She impressed him, as much as a strange mare could, with her crown of hungry fire and her feet of flickering coals, with her massive bat-wings of a rainbow of colors. Her fire was like fingers from the human story of tainted fire, torturing flames. A Fury from Tarturus, a yanker of souls like her name. He straightened up his torso, flicking out his tongue before sliding his spiny tail across the stone cave floor. "I am yrunning fyrom nothing- I am only waiting heyre to yrest, because I am gyreatly tiyred. Even a cyclone must take respite fyrom the tuyrmoil of the stoyrm." He bent back his head with an amused look at the front of the cave, tapping his long hooves. "May I stay heyre with you?"

“You may stay if you so wish,” she turned her horned head away slowly. “It is not my place to deny youyr staying heyre anyway.” Her smaller set of eyes opened, regarding this two legged stallion for a moment before she turned and started heading back into the darker heart of the cave, her fire flickering and quieting some, now that it was not being assaulted by the watery battle that came from above. She returned to her coal filled resting spot with a few clicks and clangs from her chains and flopped down, this time angled towards the front of the cave, in the direction of the stallion. Her torn wings opened up for a moment, before curling up close against her sides. Cyclone. His name surely did remind her of how the sky looked in one of these fierce storms from above.

Purgatory sniffed softly and rested her head on her talon adorned foot. Though her body did wish for rest, how was her mind supposed to relax with a relatively unknown stallion ‘resting’ in the same area as she? Her nose crinkled just a bit, and she slowly rubbed her hooked snout into the tickling flames of her legs. “Say, Cyclone, you aren’t planning on killing me, or anything wild like that, are you?” it was a joke – mostly.

He peered up at the ram-horned head, seeing a second...a second pair of eyes? Fascinating. His eyes were intense as he peered up at her still, until she turned away to crawl into the dark heart of the cave, where it either turned to rock or led away underground. He wished, as she turned away, that he had not halted here- then again, then he might not have met this Purgatory, a strange Elemental like himself that did not conform to mere basic elements- She seemed...more...than a normal Fire Elemental, not that he'd met many. He usually abhorred company, but he felt different this time- he liked her being around. Hadn't been long, but he enjoyed having someone else nearby. He laid down his head, curled up over himself, shimmery wings folded up over his back.

"You know...this is styrange...." He breathed out quietly, nibbling on his lip after that. "And no, no I am not."

Her once warm spot was not nearly as warm as it was before she left. The coals had died while she dealt with the surprise encounter. She let out a vague huff and stood up again, her middle legs lifting off of the ground to stretch out as her remaining four started leading her back a bit towards the front of the cave. Usually she wasn’t one for talking to others, it never seemed necessary, but this stallion had albeit caught her off guard in a strange way.

Her smaller set of eyes shut again, resting their sights for when they were needed. Instead, she went almost right into the area that the wild Elemental had chosen for himself, and settled down against the wall. This way, she would be able to judge his reactions better than from the distance she had taken before. This would be… one of those times where she spoke much, and then continued to speak to no simple Samanayr for a long time, month, maybe more if she felt like it. She needed not to talk all the time, she had her fires, and the wild heat of them to sustain her when it came to ‘talking’.

“Well then, now that that is out of the way…” Purgatory lowered her head a bit, resting it within the tickling flames of her tufts as she once more regarded the stallion. Although this time her observation spot was much closer. “What do you do in youyr spayre time, when theyre isn’t a stoyrm in the sky, stallion?”

Cyclone was settling, trying to get comfortable on the floor of the cave, letting his almost barbed-like tail lounge across the stone as he felt some moss underneath him- moss was an alright bed, he supposed, though nothing could compare to the softness of clouds- for an earth-thing, he liked it enough. He did not typically rest on earth for long- though, how could he? Taking off took effort, even for his well-muscled body, when one had no legs. He had to make sure all was right- he did not have the luxury of four legs- meanwhile, this mare whom he had taking residence with for the evening to come had a surplus!

He snorted softly at this, bat-like wings flapping behind his delicate ears that tapered to a fine point, catching every little 'plip' that the rain outside gave. Even a cloudy day was better than sunshine all the time- that was his opinion. The stallion hadn't let his mind wander long before he was pulled back into the cave, and raised his head to listen to her better. When there wasn't a storm? When was there not a storm in his life? He went chasing them, after all, unable to stay in one place for long. No earth-place had caught his eye yet- he'd need the perfect spot. A place that practically spoke to him to settle here. And he'd need a reason to settle.

"I rest when theyre is no stoyrm, I suppose- oyr look foyr food. I do not have much "fun", if that is what you ayre tyrying to ask about." Perhaps he was an utterly boring Samanayr- he had never thought of that before. His life was far from boring- the storm part of it, anyway- but his outside life? Did he even have a life outside of storms?

This had gotten deep fast. He wanted to stop thinking like this and get away from the topic. "You?"

Purgatory regarded the stallion silently. Boy, did he think for a long time. Her little eyes were shut tighter still, resting up while her large ones drooped lazily, but still quite clearly, as she watched the stallion. Indeed, it did not sound like the stallion had much fun when it came to the company of others - still, neither did she. She snorted softly, rubbing her pointed muzzle into her fires, taking a deep breath of the smoke and blissful smell of good times -

"You?"

You? You? She was the one that was supposed to be doing all the question giving! She didn't settle down near this stallion to talk about herself. Of course, if that settled him down, then it would be quite advantageous on her end. Well, she supposed it wouldn't do all that much harm... granted she chose her words right. But, what about her? Her nose started to wrinkle up as her tattered ears started to pin against her head and neck. That was something she didn't think about very often - her interactions with others didn't often lead into any of this talk... Slowly she rubbed the bottom of her taloned middle leg against the back of her spiraling ram horns - it gave her time to think up something good at least. When she finally settled in more, with a few shuffles of her ripped wings, she finally spoke.

"When it isn't stoyrming outside, I tend not to be found in a cave, unless I feel like getting away fyrom all the woyrld." She propped her head up with her horns, letting out a long and lazy sigh. "Oyr I get into spats with idiots." Idiots. Yes, that was a good word for the numerous Samanayr kind that had helped her acquire her rugged looks, those of which she favored greatly. Though, on her own adventures, outside forces did help her tatter and bang herself up a few easy times. "Oyr I stayrt fiyres, usually it is the latteyr of those two, of couyrse."

The dark, spiny, and shimmering tail of the Elemental, like a great snake, twitched and curled back and forth slowly, sluggishly, as he let his mind soak in the words of the mare- her hobbies should have been clearer to him upon seeing her- she looked like someone who despised idiots (as he himself did) and liked the dance of a fanned flame. He snorted quietly, shaking his head before saying in a rather amused tone. "Are you having an encounter with an "idiot" now?"

A joke- and a joke at his own expense?- how rare. His meetings with other Samanayrs were typically only linked to silent gazes, scared foals, and nervous adults. Elementals were sometimes regarded far above their worth or far below it. Mystics and Miseries did not usually understand the wild natural magic, and other samanayrs were not sure what to think when met with a dark flaming creature. Cyclone's muzzle twitched at his joke again, drawing in his serpent's tail to rest against his side, watching the colorful mare curiously. He was curious about her- he knew that to be true.

The flaming mare slowly rubbed at her jaw after she went silent. All this speaking was annoying. And she never spoke that much, now this stallion clearly had to start speaking on his own, rather than making her do all the talking. Typical. With a faint grunt she shifted and rolled a bit until her hind legs splayed out behind her, rather than having one trapped underneath her. Slowly she looked over at the stallion again as he spoke, her tattered ears twitching to see what he said

"Are you having an encounter with an "idiot" now?" Well of course he would ask her a question to make her talk more instead of him. She snorted darkly and looked at him closer still. She eyed his face, studying it silently before she would choose to speak. So he was a ‘rough’ stallion, who seemed to continuously think, about this reply she was supposed to respond to. With a loud, long sniff, she lifted her flame ridden head and looked up and out at the outside world. She curled her lips and finally said slowly.

“It depends on how the encounter ends, I suppose.” It was a mild reply, truth be told, but she was still on tender hooks about how she felt about this encounter. She turned her gaze back on him and tilted her head mildly. “How about you? Do you think you are having an encounter with an “idiot”?”

He drew in his long hooves, tucking them under his chest as the ridge of his brow raised at her answer. An idiot's end....wasn't that always his own demise? So, if this ended with him dying, then he was an idiot. or was that saying for a fool? He shrugged off the thought, his lip curling up a bit to flash some pearly white teeth.
"No. The terms I would use to describe you...defensive, calculating, and suspicious. Hardly an idiot. One must take on these things to survive in a world that doesn't care for them. He tapped his hooves on the earth of the cave, letting a little flare of ignis from his legs let a scrap of moss go up in a little spark of energy.

Flicking his tail and bit to and fro, he smiled to himself, watching the vibrant-coated mare with eyes of pure electricity. Sometimes, he made himself laugh. Maybe he was an idiot.

She rubbed her muzzle in the flames of one of her forelegs as she turned her body just a bit to face him better. And his words brought an unjust pleasure to her. Defensive? Calculating? Suspicious? She thought they all were perfect for her. Of course, she could think of a few other words to add to the list, but for a stranger to say so? It was good. She snorted in her flames, which flared up some at the attention. She swiveled her tattered ears around, listening to the rain for a moment, before looking to him again.

"Spoken like someone who knows of the coldness of the world." she commented, shifting some so that her angled body was almost hunched closer to the male who lay down before her. She stared at him with all four of her reddened eyes, before closing the smaller two and half lowering what was left. "You are not an idiot - smart with your words at the least. I daresay I'd be interested to see if you're smart with your actions too."

She snorted again and turned her horn-crowned head towards the wet outside. The thundering had just begun to slow down, judging by the time between the pounding chorus. The rain continued on though. It would still be an annoyance to go out just yet. She curled her tail up close to her body again, shaking its flame tipped end quickly, just for a moment which made the flame flicker brighter and dimmer, before tucking it against her side. She steadied herself with the middle set of legs while her eyes gazed out still, she swiveled an ear around again, though this time it was pointed towards the tucked together stallion.

He felt a little smile grow across his face, his hooked snout crinkled up some. Interested was the word she used- interested. In his actions. He felt his ignis spark a little with contentment. He was extremely...warm at those words. He enjoyed being the center of her world, just for a few moments. He felt a bit smug, but pulled himself forward, just a tad, and flicked his giant bat ears to catch every breath or movement she made. Shaking off the warm ridiculousness of his actions, he slapped his tail on the floor of the cave.

"Do you like storms?" He changed it around, spurning the conversation in a new direction now. He eyed her again, frowning a tad as he thought to himself. The world was cold, but filled with the beauty of lightning and the like. Wasn't that just wonderful?

Do I like storms? She tilted her head and stared out at the rain thoughtfully. Did she... she closed her large eyes and breathed out a long sigh. She opened her wings slowly, just a touch, letting them get a faint whiff of the rain laden breeze.

"I find them annoying." she said finally, still staring out at the rain. "The rain in them is, I mean. But they're also quite... hypnotic. The thunder, how it swells up inside of you... lightning can be beautiful I suppose, momentary scars on the sky. I enjoy the smell on the breeze after the rain, how it is so... refreshed and clean." She stopped and finally opened her large eyes, turning her head to look at him. "Why? What do you like of the rain?"

She shifted her body again, perhaps this time just a bit closer to the stallion, her legs pressing tight against her body, warming her as well as keeping her steady. Her wings fanned out a bit further as she looked at the stallion. He was ever so attentive. She flicked her ears and focused on him as well, almost smiling with amusement at this strange conversation.

He eyed her, frowning a bit in thought. Annoying. Was he annoying? Maybe she found his questions as annoying as the pattering or driving rains that came with storms. He felt a bit perturbed still. How could one dislike a storm? He wasn't offended- he supposed that the words following were worth the first comment. The lightning that scarred the sky- she saw it too, like he did. He liked that. Not sure why he did, but it filled him with warmth again. He laid down his head some, narrowing his eyes in thought, before answering with a rumble.

"The rain reminds me of the lives of those around me; existing for such a short time until they hit the ground, and seep away. Through their lives though, new life exists. That, and well... I just like what it brings. It's an obstacle for those with ignis, sure, but it's worth it to me. But I suppose my truest love is the torches and drums of the sky, or the howling winds." He bared his teeth in excitement, eyes sparkling. "It's what I love. I am a Storm Elemental, after all."

Purgatory let out a snort when he had finally finished his bit. Her ears rotated some towards the outside world, which seemed to be so far away at the moment. She rubbed her head into the flames of her own ignis, an action she did quite often, before peering over at him again.

"Perhaps I should have called you a poet instead, storm stallion." She lifted her head up again as she shifted onto her side, her flames quivering at the vulnerable action. "So then I will assume you came here for a rest, rather than to escape the fanfare you must surely love out there. Why is that?" She flicked her tail towards the outside of the cave, with its fainter thunderings and pattering of rain. She lifted the first two legs on one side, airing her multicolored, green and blue stomach for a moment, before putting the jagged colored legs back down, where their flames illuminated her body ever more in their dancing way.
