Birthday Cards [Art Contest] Winners Announced!

Gather your markers and your glitter- it's time to make some birthday cards! To wish the Samanayrs a happy birthday we're going to make some birthday cards. The only rules are the card must be physical, must be Samanayr themed and must include rainbow colors. Digital artists don't fret, you're welcome to digitally make and print artwork to include in the cards.

The cards will be judged based on the following criteria.

- Creative use of materials
- Colorfulness
- Theme and Message

There will be one first-place winner and two runners-up. First place will pick first, first runner-up will pick second, and second runner-up will get the remaining prize.

The prizes!
We've got some phenomenal guest artist sams in the prize pool!

In addition to the prize pool, all entrants will receive a random modiem!

Rules and Info
- One entry per person please
- To enter submit a photo or photos of a hand made Samanayr themed birthday card.
- Include a tag with your username in at least one photo of the card
- Be sure to include lots of rainbow colors!
- If your photos are very large and you're unable to resize, please link to them instead.


To enter just post your image(s) in this thread. The contest will be open until October 6th @ 11:59PM PST.

OH WOW! This looks so wonderful! Im just sad I cant find my pencils I thought I did but It was markers and im horrible with those! Hopefully I can come up with something!

The Sams adoptable turned 14 this year.

I made an art! XD not the best thing, I suppose, but it still took me a while X.X
I used the local leaky rainbow of mine to help make this card out!
A lot of cutting and more cutting was involved, and a mad search for glue. And Patience.

Originally I had wanted to use glitter... because everything is better with glitter, but that didn't pan out XD. Seriously wish I could color better XD XD
Oh and the other hand is inside the card, so that it can actually open a bit XD

(I was holding her other 'hand' in my mouth for some reason while I took the picture and totally forgot I was doing that, LOL)



On the inside of both cards it says 'Smanayrs, - Happy 14th, and here's no many more years!' of course, little miss Mask signed her name on the inside of hers, the big one as both contributor's names XD

It's been a wicked long time since I tried to draw anything or played around with colored pencils, but I really wanted to wish Sushi and the sams a happy birthday! Fourteen years. That's crazy. And awesome!

Here, made the card! I sort of rushed this sadly, because I've just been so busy! But I hope you like it. :3 Siro and Depths took awhile to draw,honestly. XD

I drew the rainbow twins themselves, Sirocco and Depths, enjoying each other and celebrating the birthday!

I need to get the name-tag business out of the way first, since...yeah, by the end you might understand why I wasn't sure I should put my name on this card.

Yep. Worst Sam-ish pun imaginable? ^^ Calamity was the only Sam of my bunch who actually liked the card...but I think that's just because she enjoys hearing everyone groaning. *smirks* At least it was fun to make!
Anyway, apologizes aside- congrats on reaching 14 years of Sams, Sushi!

I wanted to do a pop up card the minute I saw this thread but unfortunately I had to fly across the country for a memorial. So instead of spending ages getting this right, I got home an hour ago and rushed to get this in before the deadline. And yet I'm still pretty happy how it came out

im sorry i wasnt able to enter this one, i was to the wire trying to enter the photo hunt! my best friend came up to visit me by surprise and kind of thwarted my drawing plans but she left in time for me to scrounge up my photos! ill definately be entering the next one amazon!!

Oh my gosh guys, this has been tricky to judge! I loved seeing all your creative interpretations of Samanayr birthday cards!

SilverDapples – The three dimensionality of your card is awesome, I love the way Mask’s Feathers and wings curve out from the base. And the card within a card was a cute idea!

JaesThe cleanness and simplicity of your card really harkens back to some of the early Samanayrs and I love that! Shaping the whole card as the profile of a Sam was brilliant!

Seren Those elemental twins abound in rainbows, and I can really see the care you took in drawing them! The cheerful abstract design in the corner is a nice touch as well!

JanaleeI love the way you did the hair on your card! And you killed me with the pun in the message XD

Echos The words in the clouds was a quite clever, and I love the poor little sam; I wonder what’s in the box keeping him from being carried away! The pop-up rainbow was quite the surprise!

In the end it was very close, but a decision had to be made. First prize, and first choice of guest Sams goes to Janalee, Second place belongs to Silverdapples and third place goes to Jaes Congratulations guys! After Janalee makes her selection, Silverdapples may chose and Jaes receives the remaining prize sam!

Ooh, it's a tough choice- Ride has such fun colors (and such a fun name!), and Light has the sweetest face...but in the end I think I'll have to choose Clamor of the Charging Lion, in an effort to collect at least one Sam from each guest artist. ^^ And you certainly can't go wrong with a rough-and-tumble stallion too!
