Oakleaf Art Thread

I thought I'd make myself one of these lovely art thread to show off some things.
First up, in preparation for the Frankensam event Amazondreamer and I played a game in the car while we drove down to the city. She'd call out a few things and I'd draw them, trying to hit some of the stranger traits. If the lines are wobbly, it's because we were in a moving vehicle at the time. v_v

Cool, sounds like it was a fun game! I really like the yellow and brown one with the swirls.

I didn't know the theme of the writing contest was both stars AND Sams, so I wrote a limerick set about just stars...
In any case, here was my entry:
----------------------------------------------
There was a small bear in the sky
(I suppose that means he could fly!)
He was so tightly wound
All night he'd run 'round
His tail with a bit of a sigh
Near the small bear was a big one
Who jealously watched all the fun
Feeling ever so fleet
She ran off in bear feet
(You know, I intended that pun!)
If bears in the sky are bizarre
In circles like dogs chasing cars
You might want to know
It's only for show
They're really just pictures from stars!

Thanks, Sushi!
I recently reorganized my Photobucket and moved them, then forgot to update. They should work now.

Custom Sam Design
So, I've been working on this character for approximately three months now and have just been waiting for the moment to see her created...
With my custom slot, I'm asking for a Lamanayr based off of the artwork and totem designs of the Pacific Northwest tribes. A Raven, specifically. I love trickster characters. They're a universal archetype that was used as the cornerstone character for a lot of North American tribal stories (although whether the 'trickster' was a raven, coyote, or a Kachina varied from tribe to tribe).
My little trickster is a light-hearted practical joker who loves to tell stories and invent games. She's been through a few incarnations, starting as a Sam before becoming a Lam, but I love her to bits and I'm sure that Sushi is going to make her absolutely stunning! In any case, here are my character references!:
And the very first picture I drew of her, as a sam, just to see if markings like this could actually be made to make sense:

I decided to see if I could do a custom
Aywas Reve with traditional media. I got a Candy Cane Custom Crystal from my "Present in a Bottle" item, so I decided to experiment with it and give the result to amazon, seeing as she's the one who guessed the right number.
72 pixels per square inch is fairly restrictive, so the shading didn't transfer as smoothly as I would have hoped, but I think it still came out pretty cute!

DA CUTENESS.
It may just kill me.
Ironically, I just saw a play where red cardinals were a big part of the script. XD I love its expression! and those bells! <3

Aww, what a cutie
Love the idea of a traditional pet on Aywas too, don't think I'd ever seen one before! Bringing traditional media back, whoo!

I made a digital custom recently for Ori, and found out that they will accept higher resolutions! Yay!
Next time I do a traditional media pet I do believe it will look better at 200x200 with 300 DPI instead of 72 XD

Starting a song formation
thread in Rp for my Vigil and Amazon's Warden, but being a graphically-minded person, I decided to illustrate it. In any case, I'll be posting the images here as the story progresses and it will be like... a mini-comic?
Here's the first:
Hand-drawn but then scanned in and digitally colored via lazy-artist paint bucket. I'm thinking if I don't take too much time with them I'll be more likely to keep it up. ;u_u

*slowly sinks down under desk at Vigil's scary eyes*
I love your shadow work! It's well set up, especially if you colored it with a mouse, thats a difficult thing to do!

I'm really proud of the header image I did for the new song amazon and I put together ^_^
<3 NW coast tribal art
It's composed of lots of pieces I've had laying around since we began plotting them together!
And their
territory map, which is huge and I'll just link to it!
So happy to finally have them all together!

I saw this on your website! *totally not snooping around at new songs*
It's an astounding page! O.O So smooth and well done, your art is simply fantastic, especially for digital coloring. (Which I can't do. at all. XD)
I love the tribal heads especially... you really capture totem art!

I gushed for a good ten minutes when Oak showed me the header. I was just fixated on the totem, how the faces pop and there's a real impression of depth in the carvings. Oak kept asking me what I thought about the whole image and I'd keep going back to how awesome the totem was lol
Now the question is, what do we do if I ever manage to get a custom for the elusive fourth mare I've been plotting?

Shrink the totem down a bit and add her at the bottom, of course!
Looks wonderful!

I had a lot of fun with the rider competition and I just thought I'd post the higher-rez images of my little guy--some of the photos don't really do him justice.
The tail isn't striped in all of them because it was a late design decision, but I liked it. :3
Art dump!
