You know what time it is - time to get cooking! And at this time of year, what better ingredient to use than chocolate? :D

Your task is to create a delicious confection that has chocolate as the main ingredient. Dark, milk, white, chocolate with bacon in it - it's up to you! Once you've cooked your creation, you'll need to take a photo of it to post and share with everyone!

Rules!

- There is a limit of one entry per person.
- Your entry must include chocolate as a main ingredient, although the dish can be sweet or savory.
- Entries will be judged on creativity, deliciousness, and effort! So you could make pudding out of a box, but pudding from scratch would make a much bigger impact :D
- To enter the contest, you'll need to take a photo of your entry. Your photo must include a piece of paper with your username written on it.
- This contest is running on both PI and the Sam forums, but you're welcome to post your entry in both places to share with everyone!

There will be one first-place winner and two runners-up, and all winners will get to pick their prize from the prize pot :D First place will pick first, first runner-up will pick second, and second runner-up will get the remaining prize.

In addition to the prize pot, all entrants will receive a random modiem and some Heart Chocolates! What do the Chocolates do? You'll find out when all of the events are over!

If you choose Dance and Unity as your prize, you can become the owner for both of them or gift one to someone else! They're in a Song together and it will be up to the stallion's owner to set it up. They're not actually in a Pair Song, meaning that they're willing to welcome more mares into their Song.

The cooking contest is open until February 23, 2pm PST. To enter, please post your entry to this thread. In your post, please include the photo(s) of your entry and your name for it! Make sure your photo includes a piece of paper with your username!

Good luck, and happy cooking :D

Literally the only thing (that I've tried) that I don't like with chocolate is pineapple, because I don't like pineapple XD I mean, I've had bacon chocolate and it was delicious.

XD I live in the country, and here, they have deep-fried-chocolate-covered-bacon.
I can't even smell them without getting queasy. XD

HAHA! PERFECT! Then I shall bring my idea to life. Hopefully. If I get a Samanayr pairing to use. XD

Here's my cooking creation - I love making truffles!

Image

I wish the pic came out better, they're nice and creamy on the inside and the outside is stiff and crunchy :3

AND because I know I'll get questions, here's the recipe ;3

Equal parts inner-chocolate (the creamy part), outer-chocolate (the covering), and cream cheese. Melt the inner chocolate in a double boiler (with parental help, it gets REALLY hot!) and mix in the cream cheese completely. Let it set up in the fridge until you can roll it into balls without them melting. Then let them set up in the fridge over night until they are nice and solid. Melt the outer-layer type of chocolate and use a fork to dip the balls into the outer-layer chocolate, and let them set up in the fridge (usually only about 30 mins) and then - DEVOUR! >:3

Mine are dark, bittersweet chocolate in the middle with milk chocolate outside. And delicious *sage nod*

Delicious Rocky Road Cake Balls!

I am addicted to Starbucks' Rocky Road Cake Pops, but sadly they discontinued them some time last month. I have been wanting to try and re-create them, so I thought this contest would be a great opportunity!
I have to say these turned out delicious! I wasn't sure about a few things going in - like whether the frosting was going to coat it well, but everything came together better than I could have hoped.
My husband even said he likes these better than Starbucks' version. (But, of course, he's supposed to say that! lol.)

These have a yummy chocolate cake center, it's fully cooked, but mixed with a bit of frosting to give it a soft texture. There are walnuts and mini marshmallows in the cake. The frosting is made from cream, powdered sugar, butter, and milk chocolate. It's basically fudge when it hardens, which makes this dessert super chocolatey and rich. I've topped them with more mini marshmallows and walnuts.

If anyone wants the recipe, I'll be happy to write it out and share, but I'll warn you, it makes 48, and is incredibly tedious. Coating all of those cake balls is no small task. xD

*Reserved for Entry*

Meringue is in the oven! 3 out of 5 desserts for tomorrow night are made and my contest entry is 95% done. I don't think I've done this much baking in one sitting since I sold pies for Christmas 2 years ago.

So going to be worth it though.

Ok....

I have a question.

Does our entry have to be for the taste aspect? O_< Honestly im a HORRIBLE baker and I doubt my baked goods would be appeasing to the eyes. O_O;;;;;; let alone the stomach.

I was thinking more of an art based entry... would that be ok? I mean... ill be using chocolate completely... I just dont have baking talent... -____-;;;;;

...okay. Okay. Deep breaths. I can do this. Then bed. Then... bed... <3

My inspiration for this cooking contest entry was PookaWitch's beautiful Pair Song, the Song of Winter's Love. I really think that Pair Songs pretty much sum up Valentine's day for me and these two are my absolute favorite. Look... even their poses match adorably together!

I present to the Sam community my Rainbow Six-Layer Cocoa Cake with White Chocolate Buttercream. A mouthful! I found the recipe somewhere online a little while ago and I've wanted to try it for a couple months. Perfect timing, really!

I'm sorry in advance for all the pictures. I love documenting food adventures, especially when they're from scratch, and I didn't see any limits on photos for this contest.

-------------------------------------------------

The beginnings of something beautiful. The whole cake, icing included, took about five hours (including fridge time) and 16 egg whites, among other things. Some in-progress shots.

Image
Image

Because Ghirardelli is my best friend when baking.

Image

This butter had to be beaten into "moist crumbs" with totally dry ingredients. Interesting texture.

Image

Beautiful batter. Plus a naughty hint of Ghirardelli milk chocolate cocoa powder.

Image

The first colorful layers about to go in the oven!

Image

Bowls of rainbow batter! I'd forgotten to snap a pic when there were still all six, gah.

Image

Mmm... chocolate...

Image

And, uh. Butter. Lots and lots of butter. BUTTERCREAM SRSLY IT'S NOT A CLEVER PLOY. I cry because I just want to eat the icing all day long.

Image

Stiff icing-in-progress is awesome! This took like... fifteen minutes of hand beating. Oy. Thanks for helping, Mom. <3

Image

In went the chocolate.

Image

Stacking up.

Image

And it grows! This is way more layers than I've ever made before.

Image

The magic is hidden away... and covered with sprinkles! :D I purchased them in the theme colors of my inspiration couple. Also, there's the required username.

Image

I just about fainted.

Image

Because bookends!

Image

I swear to you that everything is delicious. I got cake bits when we evened out some of the layers and it tastes like some sort of french vanilla almond yumminess because of the extracts in the recipe. And the icing? Oh my goodness I just... I just never want to stop eating it.

It looks SO GOOD. Seriously. I'm drooling.

XD Well... on to my cake I suppose! I'm going to make it Friday ;3

That is an epic cake Jenn! I admire your dedication and skill... six layer!? O.O I love the vibrancy of the cake contrasting with the pure white frosting... and ohmigosh I'm fascinated with the texture of that frosting! Well done! I... I want to eat it.

Oh man, I shouldn't have checked this thread before bed @____@ Must.. have.. chocolate! Looking good, everyone!

And wahoo rainbow cake! :D I made one for Baby Sushi's birthday, although I went the much lazier 'gloop all the colors together' way instead of layers. That gel food coloring is way too much fun XD
