Samanayr Stalk

The Samanayr Stalk is simple enough. You just need to keep an eye on the Samanayr Stalk page:
At random times over the next week, I'll be updating the page with a couple of mimics, some items, and maybe even a token or two :O When the item or Sam appears on the page, there will be instructions that you'll have to follow to try and win it, probably something along the lines of 'be the first person to send me a PM with the subject 'MOO' or 'everyone who sends me a PM within the next hour with the subject 'wheee' will be entered in a draw for the Sam.' Simple enough!

As for the particular mimics you can win.. well, that's a surprise :D I may even be making more as the week progresses!

Rules and info

- PMs can be sent to me on PI or the Samanayr forum, but please not both!
- If the Samanayr Stalk page has been updated, it's up to you whether you announce this in the thread or keep it to yourself. It's nice to help other people out, but there's a higher chance you'll win if fewer people know about it ;D
- I'm generally off of the computer between 10pm PDT and 9am PDT, so don't bother checking the page then XD

Good luck!

Whoo, live events! There's going to be three mimics available in three different events:

Samanayr Trivia - PI, starting March 23, 7:15pm PDT
There will be 15 Samanayr-related questions, and the first person to respond with the correct answer will receive a point. The person with the most points will win the Meerkat mimic!

15 more questions for a chance to win the Malayan Tapir mimic!

Rules for each event will be posted closer to game time. See you there!

The Great Mimic Debate
So which is more awesome - a velociraptor or a white tiger? I don't know, they're both pretty cool. I guess you're going to have to state your case if you'd like to see your animal made into a mimic!

The Great Mimic Debate is your chance to win a mimic based on the animal you present. In addition to a description of your animal, you'll also need to tell me why it would make an awesome mimic! Tons of cool traits? An incredible pattern? All around awesomeness? Let me know!

Rules

- Please do not hotlink any images! Upload any images to your personal webpage, PI gallery, Photobucket account, etc rather than linking from the site you found the image on.
- There is a limit of one entry per person. You can enter on PI or the Samanayr forum, but not both places.
- This event is for real animals only, although animals that are now extinct are also allowed!
- Entries can be edited at any poine before the end of the event.
- An animal can be entered by different people - posting your entry first doesn't allow you to 'claim' that animal. If someone posts the same animal, you're welcome to post a new entry, or try to expand on why you think the animal would be awesome! If multiple
- With that being said, please try to think of your own animal to enter with rather than looking through the current entries for something neat XD

To enter, just reply to this post with the following filled out:

Username:
Animal name:
Description (written and/or picture):
Why would this animal make an awesome mimic?

This will be open until March 27, 5:15 PI time - good luck :D

Mimic Draws

There's also two random draws - one for an object mimic Samanayr, and one for a pet mimic pet!
Object Mimic Draw
There's currently three object mimic Samanayrs - a traffic cone, a van, and a Nintendo DS. There needs to be more! So, you can enter this draw for a chance to win a mimic based on the object of your choice :D

Rules

- Please do not hotlink any images! Upload any images to your personal webpage, PI gallery, Photobucket account, etc rather than linking from the site you found the image on.
- There is a limit of one entry per person. You can enter on PI or the Samanayr forum, but not both places.
- The Samanayr will be based on the colors, patterns, and 'traits' of the object in question. Corporate logos will not be included in the design.

To enter the draw, just reply to this post with the following filled out:

Username:
Object being entered:
Object description (reference pictures are loved!):
Name for mimic:
Gender for mimic:

Pet Mimic Pet Draw
This draw is for the very first pet mimic! The pet will be a mimic based on one of your pets :D Don't have a pet? I'm sure someone would be happy to lend you one of theirs!

The species of the Samanayr pet will be determined by the species of the real pet:

Dog - Oquiesa
Cat - Catgryph
Bird - Kreenasa Dragonet or Avian
Insect - Insect
Fish - Fish
Horse, rodent, everything else - Mage Construct (or could possibly become the basis for a new species!)

Rules

- There is a limit of one entry per person. You can enter on PI or the Samanayr forum, but not both places.
- Please include a photo of your pet so that I'll have a reference and can get those markings and colors right! You can also include a brief description so that I can get an idea of personality.
- The pet the mimic is based off of should be a pet that you either currently own or used to own. If you've never ever owned a pet, you're welcome to 'borrow' a pet from someone else to have the mimic based off of (with their permission, of course).

To enter the draw, just reply to this post with the following filled out:

Username:
Pet's real species:
Pet mimic's species:
Photo and (optional) description:
Pet name:
Pet gender:

A winning entry (or two? we'll see how many entries there are) will be randomly selected from all of the entries, and there will be a winner from each draw. Both draws close on March 27, 5:15pm PDT - good luck :D

Animal name: Egyptian Arabian Horse
Description (written and/or picture):
ImageImage
Why would this animal make an awesome mimic?
The Egyptian Arabian horse is the oldest breed of horse in the world, the breed allowed for the creation of almost every other breed of horse in the world. Their entire lineage must trace back to the 6 bloodlines originated in Egypt in order to be considered an Egyptian Arabian. These bloodlines are carefully preserved by breeders, never will a straight Egyptian mare be bread to a non-straight stallion. They served as mounts for kings all the way back to the 16th century BCE. Their presence can be found in everything from hieroglyphics to the Old Testament. They were used to haul the chariots of kings and as well as seal peace treaties. King Soloman of Israel built 40,000 stalls for his Arabian horses, while the Bedouin had their horses sleep in their stalls with them - prized, honored, admired, and cherished by all that encountered them.

"thou shallst fly without wings and conquer without swords."

Even though equine has been made into a samanayr time and again, there has yet to be one made from this spectacular breed. It’s characteristically defined by the extreme dish head, large expressive black eyes, small upright ears, a long neck that extends from the shoulder, high tail carriage, and balanced body. Their manes are shaved partway down from the ears to accentuate their neck length and draw the eye to their head.

Animal name: Microraptor
Description (written and/or picture):
While many believe the Microraptor males would have had brightly coloured feathers, there are those who think that both males and females would have shared the same natural colouring for camouflage against the many larger predators. However I will show both here, just in case. <3
-Wikipedia Article on Microraptors
-In Flight
-In Flight Two
-Young and Vibrant.
-Plastic Model
-Gliding
-Rainy Weather Glide

Why would this animal make an awesome mimic?
Despite being often overlooked for the more popular Archaeopteryx, the Microraptor is a unique and magnificent example of the raptor-to-bird evolutionary path. Their most remarkable feature would be the fact that, unlike any other recorded creature, they sported a pair of smaller 'wings' attached to their back legs to aid their main wings for manoeuvrability. They are also incredibly small for the era in which they lived, with adults reaching a meagre 16-inch (Tallest fossil recorded - Male.) in height, and around half a metre in length. Their 'wings' were used for gliding as opposed to actual flight.

Okay, here we go XD

First up is The Great Mimic Debate and you all knew this was coming.

Also see:

Why would this animal make an awesome mimic? Because they have been around for 200 MILLION YEARS and have not changed one iota. XD Also, they have three eyes. They breathe through their legs. They grow nearly exponentially in size in the first week of their lives. They're a tri-gendered species and that's just neat. They are found on every continent except for Antarctica. They are unbelievably cute and compelling despite being sort of frighteningly ugly. And, on a more personal note, they have brought a great deal of happiness to me over the months I've been raising them, and I've learned a lot from them. Words cannot fully convey how much I love these little crustaceans. ;_; TRIOPS FOREVER!

Hokay. ::wipes forehead:: Let's move on.

Object Mimic Draw

Object description (reference pictures are loved!):
*NOTE* The M1A1 is produced in 3 major color schemes: Desert camo, NATO camo, and NTC 3-tone camo. While I have included all 3 color schemes in my reference pictures with the intent to present the best overall set of references, the NATO 3-color camo would be the preferred coloration/markings for the Sam :} The NATO color scheme can be seen most easily on the first two ref pics which yes, are of an RC model tank.

I wrestled with myself for a very, very long time, as I wanted to enter a triops for the pet mimic as well, but I finally decided on Elvis since he is absolutely awesome and I think he would live through the Apocalypse.

EDIT: Jenn, I died of cute looking at the pics of your ratties XD They're lovely!

Animal name: Mexican Red-kneed Tarantula
Description (written and/or picture): FUZZYBUTT. <3 Like any spider, eight legs, several eyes, a badonkadonk and as a tarantula, fuzzies! Here's some pictures, only linked because I don't want to scare people. :)

Why would this animal make an awesome mimic? Aside from the eight legs? I think the massive badonkadonk speaks for itself. XD

Spiders are fascinating creatures and while they are pretty scary, I deeply respect them. We see quite of few of them out here in the desert and there's just something otherworldly about them. They're beautiful, intelligent and very creative creatures. They're able to weave webs, set traps and rid the world of nasty buggies that most of us like a lot less than spiders themselves. :o They come in a vast array of colors, species, webs and habitats. I don't think I could pay enough lip service to these wonderful creatures. This spider in particular is close to home (I'm in Arizona) and they're just beautiful with their rusty red patterning.
