Festivals and special days

Most Samanayrs observe the same festivals and special days, although they don’t all necessarily celebrate in the same way.

Spring

Year’s Birth
The Samanayr year officially begins on the spring equinox. The day is observed by reflecting back on the past year and planning for the year ahead.

The Festival of New Spring
Perhaps the most important festival for Samanayrs, large groups gather to meet mates, create new Songs, introduce new foals, and feast on the new growth.

Summer

Sun Ascendant
Samanayrs sing, dance, and tell stories through the shortest night of the year.

Summer Meet (Mystics only)
Official Mystic business happens at the Summer Meet at the Mystic Hotsprings. The Meet takes place over the course of one or two weeks, depending on how much business there is to attend to.

The Festival of Falling Stars
This festival takes place at the height of the meteor showers towards the end of summer and is a celebration of the spirits of the lost living among the stars.

Fall

The Festival of Feasting

This festival is all about food and fattening up in preparation for the lean winter months ahead. Samanayrs gather in areas that have been specially cultivated to produce particularly spectacular and delicious foods.

Year’s Decline

This event takes place on the fall equinox. A time to reflect on the year so far and the rest of the year to come, and a time of changes.

Winter

Moon Ascendant
Samanayrs spend the longest night of the year in groups telling stories and feasting on special foods that have been stored since summer and fall.
