It's just one thing after another :(

Yesterday we took our 26 year old cockatoo to the vet. She has a little cold. Nothing too extreme.

Today it's my moms 25 year old mare. My cousin that fed the horses today called my mom at work and said her horse Moon was down and they were having trouble getting her up. She was aslo drooling a lot and had a runny nose.
She called out vet and they can't see her untill tomorrow.
We know Moon needs her teeth done and we are hoping that is all it is.

It has just been one thing after another for us. Lost our house, can't find a big enough house for all of us so we have to move in with my grandma, my moms is the only one working and her boss is trying to get her to quit, and now this. *sigh* I just wish something good would happen to us... and soon. We can't take much more of this. The stress is horrible.

Sorry for the rant I just needed to tell someone. I don't really have any friends that I can talk to...

With your mare drooling and having a snotty nose it sounds like choke to me. Most horses don't drool unless they are choking. It could be stemmy grass is caught in there and she is having trouble breathing. I hope your vet gets out to you soon. <3

Got her in tonight to see the vet. It was just her teeth. She is missing a tooth on the bottom and the top tooth had grown down into the space causing her jaw to lock and she wasn't able to chew.

The vet thought it was choke so that is the first thing he checked and it wasn't that. Thank goodness.
Her teeth are fine now. Really nice vet too. He wasn't our normal vet. Our normal vet said he couldn't see her because he was too busy.
He didn't charge us for an after hours visit, which saved us a little bit of money.

He told us she will be fine. That is good news for us. Now just to get her on some old lady food and will be good.

I'm glad to hear that Moon is going to be all right, at least! And hopefully it's a sign of good things finally coming to you and your family, too! More good news today. Moon is doing fine. She seems to be in much better spirits than she has been lately. We are really glad it was just her teeth and not something too serious.
The vet and my mom both said she probably had a hard time getting up because she wasn't getting enough nutrition.

Well I was hoping to update this with goods news but I don't have much of it.

Moon was doing great, but today she fell in a well(not a deep one) that is in the pasture where she is at. She was standing on it and normally that is fine, but we have had a lot of rain the past two weeks and it weakened the cover of the well. My uncle was over there when she fell through the cover. He called my other uncle and together, with a tractor got her pulled out. She didn't want to get up at first but she did. Her legs are cut up and she has a cut above her eye. The vet came as soon as he could and bandaged her up. He said she didn't cut any of the tendons and the cuts aren't to the joints. He said she will be fine. She needs another shot of antibiotics on Monday and her bandages need to be changed every 4 days, but she will be fine.

*sigh* It's bad that it happened but Moon was very lucky.

Her and her daughter (they have never been apart for more than a few hours) will be staying in our backyard for a few days. We don't live somewhere where we can have horses but the vet said, if we get in trouble with the city just give them his number and tell them doctors orders.

I am thankful it wasn't worse than it was.

Poor thing! D: If we were closer, Moon and her daughter could come live on our pastures, safe with lots of room and yummy grass! Hopefully the city doesn't' give you grief about it.

She made it through the rainy night.
There isn't a barn where she is but she is used to being out in the rain. We gave her some straw to lay on if she wants to. Not sure she will. Her legs hurt too much to get down then up again. She will be in our backyard in a couple hours. My cousin has the trailer till later

It was a pretty scary situation. She fell back-end first thank goodness or she would have drowned before they got her out.

She is doing better today, other than she is wet. It has been raining all day. They aren't home with us yet. My mom was worried Moon would slip in the trailer. Her legs are sore and a little bit weak still.
Hopefully after a day of eating good hay she will be strong enough to take a trailer ride.
