Woo, exciting! I will try to be around, work is going to be crazy today, but I don't want to miss the fun!

Good luck everyone! *watches Wrath cheerfully practicing her jumping* I just hope no one gets skewered by accident...she's got sharp little spikes...

And...I didn't think I'd get to watch...but looks like I will after all, provided our power doesn't go out. We seem to be in the midst of a blizzard and work is now closed.

Looks like I won't be around to watch, but I can't wait to see the results when I get back ^__^

Woo! Way to go Sands! Since I'll be at work when they're going on, I'll do my cheering now. Go Sands Go! You can do it! *crosses fingers*

Well don't anyone in the High Jump part who won't be here worry XD Wrangler and I will cheer everyone on fer sure! (Wangler would probably cheer everyone on in the Long jump too, even if he IS in it XD the silly dog...)

Bound, Glimpse, and the small band of competitors make their way to a large clearing. The clearing is longer than it is wide, but is more than large enough to accommodate even the most ambitious of jumpers. Oddly enough, no one seems to be able to agree on what the weather is! Some competitors are describing a hot, sunny day while others mention the light dusting of snow on the ground--perhaps it's a bit of holiday magic?

A small band of Sharians who were passing by when Bound and Glimpse made their challenges have gotten caught up in the excitement of the contest. There are only a few of them, but they bustle about making all sorts of preparations and adding to the festive excitement in the air. Here's one now, making small lengths of cord for tying down the wings of flying competitors!

Above, there are banners and ribbons hung from the trees, and right in the middle of the clearing there are two areas being marked out with lengths of heavy rope. One is a long, narrow lane with a line of rope pegged across it at approximately every half-samanayr length. The other is a small, squarish area set between two trees; the trees have a number of anchor points tied around them, and a light branch is resting between them, currently held at approximately a half-samanayr-height. Both competition areas are well-swept of errant rocks and branches, and there is a knee-deep pile of soft evergreen needles on the far side of the branch marking the high-jump.

Thoughtfully, someone has set out some vessels of watter and bowls of snacks on some of the flatter-topped boulders ringing the clearing for competitors to munch on if they choose.

*Waft begins a slow series of stretches, limbering up for the big event. Her eyes drift lazily over the other competitors. She seems almost bored, but doesn't miss a thing as she sizes them all up*

And it's time for the main event!

First up - The Long Jump!

Each competitor takes three jumps in a row and the total distance is added together. Then, each competitor jumps again, and the farthest of the two jumps is used to determine the winner!

The Sharians and Samanayrs crowd towards the Long Jumping line just as the first competitor steps out. Bound of the White Boomer steps up to the front of the line and reminds everyone about the rules of the competition in his jaunty voice.
Spirit of the Spectral Snow moves up to the starting line, braces and LEAPS!

The first bound takes her an impressive ten marks down the lane!
The second bound is shorter, only three marks... did she overstretch herself in the first bound?
Nope! After gathering herself a bit better, Spirit makes a final bound of an impressive nine marks!

Combined First Score: 22!

Burble eyes the prepared snacks Mmm... maybe just one before the contest.

Repose of the Rusty Daffodil moves up to the starting line, braces, and LEAPS!

The first bound takes Repose three marks down the lane!
The second Bound causes Repose to trip a little, but she manages an additional two marks!
Repose pauses for a moment, collecting herself, and finishes with an impressive nine marks!

Combined First Score: 14!

Trickster of the Boreal Rainforest moves up to the starting line, braces, and LEAPS!

The first bound carries Trickster nine marks down the lane!
The second bound is well-timed, earning an additional seven marks!
Overconfident, Trickster tries to flip on the last bound, and lands on her tail, only three marks farther!

Combined first score: 19!

Wrangler of the Errant Herd moves up to the starting line, braces, and LEAPS!

On the first bound, Wrangler seems to fly nine marks down the lane!
With a short hop, Wrangler gains an additional three marks!
The final bound carries Wrangler an impressive nine marks!

Combined first score: 21!

Sear of the Freezing Flame moves up to the starting line, braces, and LEAPS!

The first bound brings Sear a good five marks down the lane!
Sear puts great effort into the second bound, but ends up with mostly vertical movement for an additional two marks!
Sear trips and stumbles just one mark farther!

Combined first score: 8!

Music of the Open Plains moves up to the starting lines, braces, and LEAPS!

Music's long legs carry him eight marks down the lane on his first bound!
The second bound is shorter, but scores Music an additional four marks!
With a final effort, Music sails ten marks down the lane!

Treader of the Fathomless Fissures moves up to the starting line, braces, and LEAPS!

With the first bound, the little stallion treads seven marks down the lane! (Actually, he bounds. Treading is against the rules.)
The second bound carries him four marks down the lane!
With a final effort, Treader lands six marks down the lane!

Combined first score: 17!

Crack of the Twining Twist moves up to the starting line, braces, and LEAPS!

The first bound places Crack four marks down the lane!
Crack stumbles but manages to gain an additional two marks!
Crack hops tentatively an additional two marks!

Combined first score: 8!

Waft of the Faded Butterfly moves up to the starting line, braces, and LEAPS!

With the first bound, Waft sails ten marks down the lane!
After rough landing from the first leap, Waft hops carefully an additional two marks!
The final bound takes Waft daintily an additional three marks!

Combined first score: 15!

Crack of the Twisting Bonfire

Crack of the Twisting Bonfire moves up to the starting line, braces, and LEAPS!

Charlie horse! Crack hops one mark down the lane, and pauses for a moment to stretch out his leg!
Feeling better, Crack bounds four marks down the lane!
The third bound takes him an additional four marks, and he resolves to come back with a vengeance in round two!

Combined First Score: 9!

Round Two - Long Jump!
Spirit of the Spectral Snow moves up to the starting line, braces, and LEAPS!

On her initial bound, Spirit is suddenly overcome with stage fright and hops two marks down the lane!
Steeling herself, Spirit gathers for a long bound of nine more marks!
Finally, Spirit remembers to picture the other Samanayrs in their underw...er, um...hairless? Or something. Ten marks!

Second combined score: 21!
