Shaving Queries? (XD)

I swear, that's not as weird as it sounds. Maybe.
Okay, so, I'm starting to pick up speed with donations for my World's Greatest Shave (so excited!) and I was wondering, has anyone on here shaved their head before?
I'm curious as to how close you should shave it (a couple of family members keep insisting I leave some form of 'peach fuzz' while I keep saying I'm going right to the scalp) and whether you recommend any sort of after care? I dunno if you're supposed to moisturise the scalp or anything... Heh. I'll be shaving tomorrow, so I'd love some extra input!
Even if you haven't shaved before, I'd love to see if anyone on here is colouring for a cure, or even if you've got a family member doing it (colouring/shaving)!
