What a wonderful day. [Open]

Misery of the Desert Winds wasn't in a pleasant mood today, and like everything else, he could blame it on a Mystic. Or Kiri. They day had started out okay, as long as he ignored that fact that he was cold, stiff, and wet, and the bush he had been sheltering under had poked him in the face several times. After a quick breakfast of almost-dead leaves, he and Kiri continued on their way.

It had been around midday when he heard two stallions' voices from just over a small hill. Misery froze in surprise for a moment, and then ducked behind one of the slightly taller and fuller bushes in the area. But even here, on the outskirts of the desert, there was not much cover to be found, and Misery knew that he should probably just flee -- especially since both stallions were fire Mystics, as he discovered when they climbed the small hill.

Unfortunately for him, Kiri just had to ruin his escape. The dragonet fluttered up to the stallions, chirping curiously, and then streaked away back to Misery. The Mystic stallions, unsurprisingly, looked in the direction that the dragonet was heading, and ended up seeing Misery as he tried to creep away unnoticed. The two stallions leaped forward, both shrieking songs of anger at him, and Misery had raced away as quick as he could.

Eventually the two stallions gave up the chase, perhaps deciding that the Misery was far enough away from their territories. Once he was certain they were both heading away, he found a small cave to shelter in. He wasn't really injured, and the few singed patches of fur and hair would grow back soon enough. And though he was very annoyed at Kiri, he gently patted the dragonet on the head. He even accepted the half-eaten berry she brought to him as a "peace offering" (even though he would've much rather eaten her as a punishment for being stupid). He was trying to "be normal", after all. And normal stallions generally didn't eat their pets.

There came a great amount of grumbling, the sound of branches snapping, and a lamanayr mare dragged herself out of a patch of brambles. Oh! How annoyed she was! Who'd put that bush there, anyways? It just had to be right in her way, didn't it. Huffing, she shook her fur out, and stamped her hooves, and spread her feathered-draconic wings. She folded them back neatly. She glanced up at the sky, eyes narrowed in irritation. The weather didn't look at all promising.

It was then that she caught ear of some sort of conflict, with shrieking and yelling, but she disregarded it. She didn't care. Why should she care? It wasn't her business. As long as it wasn't bothering her, she was fine, though the noise was a little disruptive and didn't help her growing headache. It subsided quickly, though, and she let out a sort of half growl, half sigh, which might have been a noise of relief. In any case, Forecast of the Inevitable Storm was not happy. She hardly ever was. Everything was too awful to be happy about it.

Grumping, she kept onward. She'd need to find somewhere to take a rest soon - she would have been flying, except her wings had tired out already. Her hooves were beginning to get sore, too, and her muscles ached, and she was hungry, and her head hurt, and her eyes stung. It wasn't any fun at all. And, to make matters worse, she tripped over a small, scraggly plant near the mouth of small cave, landing awkwardly. She cried out in anger. What an awful day!

The sudden cry of something outside of the cave caused both Misery and Kiri to jump. What now? he grumbled to himself, getting to his feet. But before he could even make it to the cave entrance, Kiri had already zoomed outside, chirping loudly. The green and brown dragonet hovered in midair for a moment, glancing around quickly, before fluttering over to Forecast and landing on the ground beside the Lamanayr mare.

"Hi? Hihi?" the dragonet 'said' to Forecast, cocking her head to one side.

Misery charged out of the cave barely a moment later, snarling, with gusts of wind billowing out behind him. But as he noticed Forecast, he skidded to a halt, the small winds dying down and the scowl fading away.

"Oh."

He simply blinked at Forecast for a second, looking surprised. He'd been expecting one of those Mystic stallions to be out here, not a strange mare with rather interesting wings. But after a moment, the scowl returned. "Who are you?"

The Kreenasa dragonet took Forecast a little by surprise. She blinked, not expecting the little thing to show up, but then she scowled. Ugh. Useless thing, just standing there, looking at her. She picked herself off the ground, shaking the dust out of fur, and glared at it again.

"Go away," she snorted at the little creature. Then, there was wind. Wind? Where in the world was it coming from? Then, she saw the samanayr emerging from the cave. No, not a samanayr. A misery. He didn't look particularly amused at seeing her there, so she simply returned his scowl in her own icy, venomous way. She wasn't going to be nice to nice people, so she definitely wasn't going to be nice to people just as grumpy as her.

"It's none of your business," she snapped, matter-of-factly. She closed her eyes and went about stretching her wings to shake the dust off.

She was trudging. She had never really believed that it was possible, but there you have it. Trudging. Totally viable. Venom-green eyes blinked in a decidedly annoyed way, then returned to staring after her serpentine companion. Leer, a slightly kleptomaniac little Dragonet, had needled her repeatedly this morning with his barbed tail to wake her up, insisting that she come with a plaintive whistle. Slightly annoying at having been cost her sleep-in, she was now further aggravated at having walked through steadily increasing levels of desert heat for a little over an hour without pause.

She was just about ready to turn around then and there and find a cool shadow to nap in when a gust of wind, though not a large one, caressed her face. She paused to enjoy it for a moment before realising that there hadn't been a single other gust up until that moment. And, after recent events, she immediately pictured large, leathered wings and pain-crazed eyes...

She stopped herself and took a deep breath just as Leer skidded back to her from ahead, his little body quivering with excitement. 'Comecomenow!!' With less trudging this time she moved forward until she caught sight of what had caused the winds. Ah... Another misery. An air mover, if the pale back mane was any clue. And another... A Lam with a set of some of the strangest wings she had seen in quite some time. Two very interesting characters to be sure!

It seemed, however, that that was not what the little dragonet male had been interested in. With a happy little chirp he dashed forward with a strangely lopsided gait and skidded to a halt directly in front of another of his kind, a sharp-toothed smile on his tiny face and the carapace of some iridescent beetle clasped between his front paws proudly. 'Pretty.' With an annoyed sigh, Odyssey moved out after him.
