These forms are a constant work in progress. As any given Sam gets RPed I learn new things about their personality, their likes and dislikes, and their past. As such, things posted here are subject to change. But listed here are brief sketches of all Samanayrs that I own, regardless of if they have been RPed or not. The info here will continue to grow and change.

Note: I am generally behind with updating this thread...one day it may actually have info on all of my Sams...but generally it will be at least a few short of all.

Most of her body is an almost purple tinged brown covered with small black spots. At the points her color fades into a pale green. Her mane and tail tuft are both white. Her eyes and hooves are gold. She has a set of pale green draconic wings.

Personality
Bloom is a very bubbly, friendly, outgoing sort of a gal. She's not exactly the brightest Sam around, but she's endlessly cheerful and happy-go-lucky. As she has grown older Bloom has settled down a bit, but she continues to act younger than she is.

Span is mostly green with rusty brown and pale blue splotches. Her hooves, mane and tail are all black. Her eyes are a darker blue than her fur.

Personality
She is not the most easy to get along with Sam. Span is almost arrogantly certain that she is always right and is a bit of a snob, without actually having any reason. Her nose is often in the air and she does not want to talk with you. Unless she does. In which case she will let you know. Otherwise she'll ignore you most likely.

Though Span insists that she is an awkward and ungainly creature with an ironic name...Grace really does suit her name. And she is quite cheerfully oblivious to Span's public distaste for her, which hints that Span might just have a softer side in private. Or else Grace is really stubborn or possessed of some unknown motive to make her stay. Grace is a quiet little thing most of the time, but generally happy and seemingly quite content to glide along behind Span and keep her company.

Sparkle is mostly a pale minty green with a white belly. But all four of her legs are rainbow patterned, the hind legs more faintly than the front legs. Her mane and tail tuft are mostly white but have dark green tips. She has large black eyes and white hooves. Most of the time she can be seen holding herself in a half cringing posture.

Personality
Sparkle is painfully shy, which comes of as rather fearful most of the time. She is easily spooked and hates talking to strangers. Unfortunately...this means she seldom give others a chance to become more familiar so that they stop being strangers. She isn't quite sure what to make of being lead mare of her Song, but she is slowly coming out of her shell as a result.

Physical description
Hum is vivid, fiery shades, from her red body to her orange belly and her bright yellow legs and face. She sports a pair of very sharp pronged red-gold antlers and has vivid red eyes and hooves. Her mane and tail continue the red theme. Her tail is very short and stubby, but don't make fun of it if you value your skin intact. She is very lean and fit.

Personality
Hum's personality is just as fiery as her appearance. She's a very fierce young mare, quick to anger and slow to cool down. Cross her path and she'll do her best to tree you, or possibly trample, gouge, and gore you. She does not however tend to attempt to kill, because what use is beating someone if they aren't around anymore to know you've beaten them? She's also ever so slightly and cautiously romantic. Mind you, she thinks a Demon Elemental is sweet, so take that as you will.

Hum was born to a half Sa'krien mother who was driven mad by her own heritage. Hum's own appearance only served to drive her mother deeper into madness and turn the mare against her daughter. As such Hum was mostly raised by her father and a kindly older mare from a neighboring Song. When she was about a year and a half old Hum decided that she'd had enough and left home early, determined to find her own way without her mother. It hurt her father, but she felt it was best for all of them.

Not long after she decided to make a dramatic gesture in looking for a stallion and attracted the attention of Rend, a Demon Elemental who liked her fiery looks and temperament. Despite her uncertainty about the Mystic mare he had waiting back home she decided to join his Song. Though she is currently the only non-magical member of this Song she feels more at home there than she ever did with her parents.

Dawn is mostly a rich brown, but she has many swirling markings in blue, white, and amber red. Her mane and tail continue the color pattern, fading from red to blue to white. Her wings have similar patterns as her body, but her feet are much paler. They are also paws rather than hooves. Her eyes are gold. She is soft and rounded, just a little plump, but not enough to be considered pudgy.

Dawn is a very sweet and gently young mare who tends to go along with the crowd.

Dance's colors mimic those of the rainbow lorikeet; largely blue with a red belly and green wings and legs. He has hints of yellow mixed in as well. He has no tufts on his legs

Personality
Dance's personality also mimics that of the bird. He is loud and clownish. He is more than willing to laugh at himself and treats life like one giant party. It is very hard to get Dance to take much of anything seriously, so it's probably a good thing that his Song lives in a cliffside cave about halfway up said cliff; it's hard to be attacked by much that high in the air.

Sweep's colors mimic those of the red kite. She is mostly red with a white head and tail. Her wings are her most striking feature being multicolored in shades of red and brown with barring. She has three hooves on each foot and wears a thin metal band on her right foreleg.

Personality
Sweep takes life very seriously. Territory is to be defended, food must be gathered and stored for the winter, plans must be made. She borders on militant. It is uncertain why then she chose to join a Song with a clown. Also rather bossy.

Cuddle's colors mimic those of the Major Mitchell's Cockatoo, and she even has a crest like that of the bird. She is a soft rosy pink all over save for her grey hooves and brilliantly pink and yellow crest of feathers. She is ever so slightly plump and rounded with a somewhat motherly look to her.

Personality
As her name would imply, Cuddle is a very affectionate Sam who loves to cuddle up with her Songmates and isn't shy about strangers. Though very motherly and loving, Cuddle can come off the wrong way by trying to go up to someone she has just met and nuzzle them in greeting. Can easily be too affectionate.

Physical description
Searing is a pale, creamy colored stallion with deep golden stripes edged in rusty red running down his body from his neck to the tip of his tufted tail. The same stripes also run down his legs until fading into first gold then darkred at the feet. His hooves are the same deep rusty red. He has a fluffy leonine mane around his neck which is rusty red tipped in golden amber. The tuft on the end of his tail is the same color as his mane. The top of his head and muzzle are golden amber as well, while the underside of his head is cream. His eyes are bright gold. He sports a pair of long, sharp, deep red double horns, which might look intimidating, but are not used for actual fighting. He has a stubby pair of red and gold draconic wings, far too small to bear him in flight. He wears a chunk of turquoise on a silver chain around his neck.

Personality
Searing is a runner by nature. He is completely content running through the night desert, never staying in one place for long. Or at least he was until he found a mare to adore and hold him in place. He still loves to run, but is willing to return to the same place, and to only spend a part of each night out on patrol. While he is not the most socially outgoing of Sams, seldom seeking out the company of others beyond his own mare, he is not socially inept either. He is fairly calm and hard to upset, but has a strong sense of humor underneath. Searing tends to be fairly observant, as failing to notice things can get you killed rather quickly in the desert where he makes his home. Friendly enough if you happen to meet him, but he won't go out of his way to find someone to be around.

Physical description
Hiss has a rather serpentine build, long and lean with a draconic tail. She is also, like a snake, completely hairless and covered in tiny scales. Her colors mimic those of an albino coral snake; mostly white with thin yellow stripes bordering wider red stripes. Her posture tends to be hunched in on herself though, making her seem smaller than she is. She wears a snake fang on a red cord around her neck.

Personality
Hiss is...painfully shy and incredibly timid. Almost everything scares her and she's borderline paranoid. Very few other than her family have ever heard her speak and now that she has found a stallion that she trusts she will usually use him as a living shield between herself and any stranger she happens to encounter. Very easily spooked, prone to running first, seeing what it was later, if ever.

Abilities (magical and otherwise)
None that she's aware of.

History
Born to an aggressive, domineering bully and the lame mare he'd managed to trap Hiss did not have a good childhood. Her mother's spirit was practically broken by the time Hiss was born, and her body was nearly worn out as well from constantly raising foals for her greedy captor. Hiss inherited her father's scaled skin, but nothing else from him, to his angry disappointment. She was abused by her father and older sister in attempts to toughen her up, but it only served to make her even more afraid.

When she finally was allowed to leave Hiss promptly took off, never wanting to see another stallion again. She lived a highly nomadic life in the deep desert, beyond the reach of her father's interest. Most of the time she was on the move for fear that someone had found her, but every now and then she would find a seemingly safe, secure, hidden spot to stay for awhile. But always someone would eventually come through, and Hiss would flee again.

One night though, the one who found the same canyon that she had decided would make a secluded shelter managed to convince her enough of his lack of ill intent that she hesitantly remained.

Topaz is Hiss's loyal companion, a gift to her from Searing in the early days of their partnership. As Searing's nature was such that he could not constantly remain in the canyon with Hiss, he gave her a little friend to keep her company during the hours that he was gone. At first she was afraid of the little fellow with his sharp beak, but the clumsy kitten soon won her over, and even now that he's grown to be half as big as she is Hiss isn't afraid of her companion. He is a friendly, outgoing little fellow who sometimes gets upset when Hiss doesn't like his gifts of dead lizards.

Physical description
Scrap is mostly calico all over save for her yellow front legs and talons. She also has yellow rings round her black eyes. She almost looks more like a gryphon than a Samanayr with that tufted tail, paws and talons plus her lack of foot tufts. She sports a pair of bone earrings which have almost gotten ripped out of her ears more than once as she gets rather overenthusiastic about things quite easily.

Personality
Her name is indicative of her nature. She is frequently found in the center of all manner of mischief, most of which she thought was a good idea at the time. Often enough she still thinks it was a good idea, it's just that others apparently didn't agree. She tends to live her life in a little fantasy world which only vaguely touches on reality. Scrap can take the most commonplace situation and turn it into a wild adventure. She is very noisy and rambunctious with a tendency to narrate her life in dramatic style when board. Don't believe most things she tells you; she loves to make up stories which she half believes herself.

Physical description
Flare looks very much like a lionfish and could probably fool a casual observer from a distance. A closer look however will show the different body shape under all those fins and red stripes on white. He wears a shark tooth necklace.

Personality
He didn't get his name at random. In his younger days Flare was quite the hotheaded stallion, quick to anger and quick to lash out with words or fins. As he's aged he's mellowed a bit into a crotchety old Sam with a slightly odd sense of humor. He is slightly unusual in that he never quite felt like getting around to founding a Song or siring children until late in his life.

Physical description
Puff is actually rather thin under all that fur; she's half hair. Her fur is a soft brown spotted with orange and red that she likes to think of as falling leaves. Her hooves and the feathers lining her ears are a frosty blue, a reminder of the winter that follows autumn. She wears a bracelet with a pumpkin charm on her left front leg as a constant reminder of her favorite season.

Personality
Puff is a sweet, happy young Sam who loves to dance and sing, particularly in autumn, her favorite season of the year.

Physical description
From his neck to the tip of his tail Gyre's body is covered in tiny scales, much like those of a snake. He is predominantly white with broad yellow stripes bordered in much narrower maroon stripes. On the tip of his tail is a tuft of fur which combines all three colors from his body. His legs, from around the ankle down, do have the tufts of most Samanayrs and fade to maroon, the same color of his hooves. His neck is covered by a fluffy leonine mane, and his face also has a coating of fur; gold on top and white on bottom with a thin reddish line between. He lacks ears and has a pair of vestigial wings. He wears a necklace much like his father's around his neck. While he is still young and not quite as muscular as he might yet grow, he is lean and tough looking as a result of surviving in the desert for most of his young life.

Personality
Gyre is slightly unsure of his place in the world still and can be hesitant in his actions. But he loves to travel and explore and has no desire to settle down now, or perhaps ever. He does enjoy company however. He finds many things outside of the desert to be odd. He tries not to be afraid, but after two years of living with his nervous mother there are a great many things that he is not quite sure about and will approach more hesitantly than he otherwise might. In his own way he's trying to prove himself, though how or to whom is uncertain.

About
Moonlight is a slightly jealous young catgryph who has been with Gyre for his entire life. She had a name long before he did however. No one except Topaz, Gyre's mother's catgryph, knows just where she came from. When Gyre was born Topaz took one look at him and left the Song's canyon home unnoticed by the new parents. About the time they noticed him missing he returned carrying a half grown catgryph kitten nearly as large as the foal and made it clear that she now belonged to the young colt. The two grew up together and are very close, though Moonlight is prone to wander off on her own explorations and to hunt. She is very inquisitive and playful, but she considers Gyre to be hers and can get upset if he appears to be neglecting her when she doesn't want to be left alone.

Pining's body is almost entirely grey with just a few dark teal blotches on her head and legs. Most of her color comes from the vivid teal and green spines that grow from her head, neck, back, and tail. She tends to carry herself in a slightly defeated sort of way.

Personality
Pining is not the most cheery mare around. She has a great deal of trouble speaking, or even making the sounds of the original Samanayr language. That, combined with her unusually spiky appearance has made her less than confident in herself, and she tends to slink around at the edges of things, too afraid to go join in.

Physical description
From the front Expectation's colors almost resemble those of a badger with her white markings on a grey base. The long floppy ears with the green feathers on the end and the blue mane do take away from the badger like appearance though. As do the two little pairs of feathery wings. Her back half looks nothing like a badger however, being blue with paler stripes running along the outside of her hip. She wears a cluster of holly in her blue tail. Expectation is always seen carrying around a delicate looking red and gold egg.

Personality
She loves puzzles and mysteries and trying to solve them. However, she doesn't really enjoy actually solving them, just the fun of puzzling through them and wondering what the answer might be. Because of this she will violently stop anyone from actually attempting to open her egg, preferring to live in endless curiosity about what it might contain. She is slightly obsessed with the riddle of her egg, just opposed to actually finding the answer because then she wouldn't be able to wonder anymore.

Keeper is a rather large, very solidly built Sam whose thick fluffy coat makes him look even larger. His thick coat is mostly white with frosty blue spots all over. His antlers and hooves are a woody brown. He usually has a grumpy expression and almost always carries five golden rings.

Personality
He is not very well socialized and has a rather sour, non-trusting personality. Tends to talk to himself more than he talks to others, and even a comment aimed at another may well be muttered under his breath as though he's still talking to himself.

History
When he was a much younger and more trusting Sam a Sharian approached Keeper, who then had a different name which is now forgotten, and asked him to do an important task. Keeper was asked to guard five magical rings which needed to be kept far away from...some unnamed something. He was taken to a remote spring deep in a northern forest and told to stay there and guard the rings until the Sharian returned. Years past and the rings proved nothing but trouble, rolling away the instant he took his eyes off of them, growing even more icily cold than the seemed possible in less time than it should take. Keeper was miserable, but remained at his duty.

Years later the Sharian did return, forced to by a pair of of older mages who were absolutely furious with him and the nasty trick he had played on the trusting Samanayr whom he had all but forgotten about. At their insistence he removed the prankish spells he had placed on both Keeper and the rings, allowing Keeper to go free. But he had already destroyed the stallion's trust and temperament. After that Keeper chose to keep the rings as a reminder of why he should never trust again.

Triumph looks a great deal like a sheet of old parchment on which someone had started to write and then spilled a great deal of ink. Her clawed paws are slightly clumsy with the quill pen she usually carries, but work well enough to write with.

Personality
Triumph is a very determined, serious young mare. Right now she is most determined to improve her reading and writing skills to make her Sharian teachers proud of her. She is endlessly fascinated by the written word and strives perpetually to impress those whom she feels have mastered it. Despite being well read for a Sam...she's a bit naive on the reality of the world. She never thought she'd be content with any stallion, but then she met Seeker. While his goals and aspirations may lie down a different path than her own, he is equally studious and holds a fascination for her.

He's still surprisingly good at them, though he does cheat if he can get away with it. Companion is a big cuddly puffball of cotton candy colored fluff with lilac wings and paws. His upright ears give him a slightly bat-like face. He's quite solidly built under all that fluff as well.

Personality
He is a cheerful fellow who can't always restrain his exuberance. Living in the north where the seasons do not change as visibly or as long as they do in warmer climates he has a slight fascination with them and founded a Song with a mare representing each of the other three seasons of the year.

Jewel is a slim, sleek little mare with oceanic colors tinged with brighter fiery accents. She shows little hint of having been born to a non-aquatic Song other than that her tail is partly equine. With her long red horn and her little fangs she looks a bit intimidating, but she isn't really. Her golden eyes are usually filled with joy or sometimes mischief.

Personality
She is a very cheerful, perky, talkative young mare. She can almost always find something to amuse herself in a situation and does not appear to take much of anything seriously. However she has a strong dislike of bullies and is quite capable of changing from random babble to chewing you out for being too nasty.

Physical description
She is long and lean with a tough, wiry build. Her colors are those of the sunset, vivid reds and golds, spotted with patches of cooler ocean greens and blues. Her large fin ears resemble those of a donkey almost, but it's safer for you not to mention that to you as she is not amused by the comparison. Those horn nubs may be small, but they still hurt when rammed into your kneecap.

Personality
She's a tough girl; she has to be to survive on the outskirts of the desert despite being waterbound. She doesn't tolerate nonsense very readily and tends to be quite straight-laced. She often comes off as gruff, callous, or unfeeliing with her sarcastic sense of humor and lack of social skills, but she still tries to help those who have lost their way and stumbled upon her pool.

Abilities (magical and otherwise)
Holding her breath for extended periods, heating the water around her, be it to a boil or just to a nice comfortable hotspring temperature, creating barriers of impassible hot water, creating jets of super hot water to strike at attackers with, drawing the heat out of surrounding waters so as to lower the temperature so others can have a cold drink. She can also briefly create a small fire on land but she tries not to do that so as not to have her small fire accidentally take off and turn into a brushfire in the dry desert environment.

History
Her mother was a desert mare with a strong wanderlust that took her far from the sands of her birth. While exploring a remote mountain lake she encountered an aquatic mystic stallion, with whom she had a brief fling before returning home to the desert. Much to her surprise, she dropped a filly soon after. There was no question of who the father was as the filly possessed both an assortment of fins and a pair of Mystic Strands. The mare had no idea how to raise and aquatic baby, but did her best for her filly. Nonetheless she was relieved when her daughter was old enough to leave on her own. Since then Mystic has lived mostly alone, working out her fire magic.

Fish is the only creature that Mystic has spent any significant amount of time around other than her mother. That being said, she has absolutely no idea where he came from or how he wound up in her oasis. He just appeared one day. Since then however she has made sure that whenever she follows the temporary paths that the rainy season creates to a new oasis he comes with her. It's nice being able to pretend you aren't going just a little crazy by talking to yourself.

Caution is very lean and leggy and looks like she'd break like a twig. While she is a tad delicate, she's not as delicate as that. She has a very pale base but brightly colored spots on her rump, vivid red mane and tail, and brightly colored feathers on her ankles and shoulders. In addition to an equine tail she also sports a bright feathered tail.

Personality
She suffers from an overactive imagination, which means that she is both endlessly curious and also very skittish and easily spooked. She's just as prone to convince herself of terrible frightening stories as to make up pleasant daydreams, which can make things around her...interesting.

Chirp looks like a bat, a Townsend's Big-Eared Bat to be precise. This means she's a big puffball of fur with giant ears and a pair of leathery wings that connect all four legs and her tail. She has hooked talons that enable her to grip despite the connecting wing membrane.

Personality
Chirp is a sweet, rather silly, good natured mare who loves to explore. She has the curiosity of a cat and tends to rely overly much on her ability to fly to allow her to escape any sort of situation that it gets her into. While she hates to see others sad, she sometimes has rather...odd ways of trying to cheer them up. She may come across as simple, and in many ways she is, but don't let that make you think that she's stupid.
