The first bound makes Sear's ignis flare, blinding her but she manages an initial two marks!
Angrily, Sear puts enormous effort into her second bound for nine marks!

Music of the Open Plains moves up to the starting line, braces, and LEAPS!

Music conserves his strength, leaping a moderate seven marks!
Opening up a bit, the spotty stallion sails another nine marks down the lane!
Once more Music leaps, gaining a final eight marks!

Treader of the Fathomless Fissures moves up to the starting line, braces, and LEAPS!

Treader bounds four marks down the lane, shaking his fins for good luck!
With a good bound, Treader gains an additional six marks!
Fianlly, with great effort, Treader lands an extra nine marks down the lane!

Crack of the Twining Twist moves up to the starting line, braces, and LEAPS!

Hopping carefully, Crack bounds three marks down the lane!
Even more carefully, Crack adds three more marks!
With a final all-or-nothing burst of effort, Crack recklessly throws herself ten marks down the lane!

Waft of the Faded Butterfly moves up to the starting line, braces, and LEAPS!

The first bound carries Waft gracefully ten marks down the lane!

Distracted, by her own rainbow, Waft poses dramatically one mark farther down the lane!

Finally, tossing his horns, Crack bounds a last nine marks down the lane!

Burble is happily munching her way through a second bowl of snacks Huh? What? Almost time for my event?

The friendly Sharians quickly tally the scores...

Mares and gentlestallions! We appear to have ties for first AND third place!
A jump-off is in order!

Spirit and Repose both have high scores for 22!

*Waft nibbles the cord from her wings and flourishes them dramatically*

Well, I -am- glorious, one can't blame a girl for noticing once in a while! *mutters* Unlike SOME people I could name..

Both Spirit and Repose are led up to the starting line for a final jump-off! Each will be given one leap to prove their ULTIMATE JUMPING PROWESS!!

The crowd roars!

Spirit bounds forward... spiritedly... for nine marks!
Repose gathers herself carefully and with a burst of effort leaps forward ten marks!



Just like the first jump-off, Wrangler and Music move up to the starting line to make their final leaps...

An expectant hush falls over the spectators!

Panting heavily, Wrangler bounds forward a final five marks!
Nervously, Music closes his eyes tightly and jumps forward. Opening his eyes slowly, he find himself ten marks down the lane!

Wrath: *has been sitting watching the long jump with her tail twitching like crazy with suppressed excitement and now leaps to her feet* Jumping time now! *wriggles gleefully and starts bouncing*

High Jump

After a short rest for some drinks and snacks, the crowd of curious Samanayrs and Sharians moves toward the other court to be used today... it's time for the High Jump! Those present create a constant din of cheering and conversations about the competitors. There's even a small section of the crowd frantically chanting, "How high can you go? How high can you go?!" The ten lucky Samanayrs make their way up to the court and perform some last minute stretches while they wait their turns to jump.

This is an elimination-style contest! Each round, the branch set between the trees will be raised a bit higher and the competitors will try to jump over it without knocking it down. Any Samanayr who knocks the beam off the trees will be eliminated from the running and sit with the spectators. The Samanayr that jumps the highest will win, and their owner will have first pick of the prize pool!

The beam is set at the first mark, about one half-samanayr-height above the clearing floor!

All ten samanayrs clear the hurdle with ease! But then, they are all supposed to be the best jumpers, aren't they? The Sharians lift the bar to it's second position!

Suddenly I have this feeling that someone had to restrain Wrath from jumping back and forth over the branch repeatedly while they were trying to raise it...

In the running:

clears the beam with a hoof-length to spare!
clears the beam, but with hardly a hair's-width to spare!
Leap of the Tossing Canopy sails over the obstacle with no trouble at all!
cuts it close, but clears the obstacle!
leaps so high, they must have been trying to intimidate the competition!
leaps well clear of the branch!
leaps even higher than Path; don't tire yourself out!
clears the branch nicely.
also leaps excessively high!
Omen of the Approaching Storm leaps much higher than the branch, looking pleased with herself.

*eyes Wrath* Either you are trying to show off how precisely you can judge your leaps...or you really aren't used to being told no little levitational magics to help with the balancing on those spikes.
