Freaky Asian Dolls

Post by Britain »

In the interest of fostering more board activity and following Bluestarwolf's excellent (and more awesome) example of CAKE AND PIE, I wonder...does anyone else here collect Asian Ball Joint dolls (ABJD's)? I believe it was Tervenna who we were chatting with in Ustream the other night, anyone else interested? All three of us in the house (Steele, Ogre, and I) collect the dolls, and I'm fairly rabid about the subject.

Also, if anyone has questions about them, I'm totally the person to ask. XDDDD

For your viewing pleasure, here's Orasteele's CP Shiwoo, Mam'selle, showing off a home-made kimono:

To be honest, I didn't even know that they existed before you posted pictures of them.

Copies, Chu, copies. Scanning is not as effective. If you'll remind me, I'll make the copies on our big copier here at work, I just need to get the pieces out.

silvermoondragon: Many don't. XDD I have a mini-FAQ about them in my DA journal here: http://starbutterfly.deviantart.com/

It's definitely a niche market, for an obsessively devoted few.

YES I want pictures D: What are their names?

Waaaah, zuzu. ._. They are SO CUTE!!

EDIT: I totally had the measurements off and thought your girl was taller. *bangs head into wall* Got confused with a Feeple Cali that lives down here. I will stick a note on my lunchbox to get those patterns up here tomorrow, if you'll PM me your mailing address! I wish we had girls in the house, I would send you clothes. T_T So hard to sew without a model.

Sooooooon. *stares at Soom* WHERE'S STEELE'S AMBER, DANGIT?!

It is driving me nuts to not have net right now; I keep missing fun stuff! I'll pm you my address shortly, but I think the next I head out to Houston, I will bring her with me - I suspect she is too tightly strung, but I don't have much experience with these lovelies yet, so I don't know how to tell for sure. Or how to fix it if she is
