Fifth Annual Spring Fling - Maybe It's Love! Starts May 1st

It's that time again! After a late start last year delaying the event by a month, I figured I'd better get the post up for the event early this year. Just in case!

Most of the prizes for this event will not be revealed until the conclusion of the contest. It's always kind of fun that way. (Hint: Grand Prize is totally a twin breeding token again... and I don't think anybody will complain. Hehe!)

Here are the rules:

For every mare who joins a Song or stallion who courts a mare from May 1st to May 31st, I will enter their owner into the random prize draw. So long as the date of your post on the forum says May, we're good. One Sam, one entry into the draw for both the owner of the mare and the owner of the stallion. Just make sure you post it here so that I know! After May is through, I'll visit our handy, dandy randomizer.org and generate the winners.

This is always a fun way to encourage people who've been debating a pairing for a while, or who wanted to pair off their mares but just hadn't had the incentive. Of course, if you need any matchmaking help, I would be quite happy to assist in the matchmaker threads in Sam Discussion!

Matches for Men and Mares

All Sams acquired before or during the month count for this. It cannot be a pairing made before May 1, however.

Once you have a new pair you'd like to announce, please include their names, their owners, the Song's name, and a link to their database page in bold (code below). Both Sams should be in the database before you post them, though it's fine if they haven't updated their "Current Song" yet.

This thread is discussion-friendly. Please feel free to comment all you'd like before, during, or after the event! If anyone needs database assistance (you're not familiar with the db, you have an agreed-to pairing but the mare's owner hasn't updated her record, etc.) then please just shoot me a PM.

This is a totally stupid question, but if I have stallions who haven't started their own songs, can they still be part of this? Or do I need to go about starting songs for them so they can entice mares into their songs for this contest?

I am so new to Sams breeding, but I'd really love to get back in the game with quite possibly my favorite adoptable.

Not a stupid question at all! :3

The first thing you'll need will be to find a lead mare. Once a stallion has one lady, he can start a Song - and consequently he'll be eligible for the event if the match is made during this month. Often times the best way to attract ze ladies is by being proactive and PMing the owners. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't, but it helps you establish some neat connections in the community either way!

After you've found the first mare, you'll be able to make a post in the Song forum of the board and add the Song to the database.

If you have any questions in particular, please feel free to just shoot me a PM and I'll be happy to go into more depth. I'm sure others will chime in as well.
