Under the Summer Moon - A Mad Lib Adventure

As summer slips to autumn, Samanayrs gather to share stories and enjoy the last few golden days before winter blows in. With Oakleafwolf’s assistance I will be running a Mad Lib story game! Get your thinking cap on and dust off your dictionary it’s time to play Mad Libs!

If you’re not familiar with Mad Libs it’s a word based game, typically played at parties or on long car trips. There is a premade story or script with missing words and the object is for players to supply the missing words completing the story. The officiator (in this case amazondreamer) keeps the story hidden, but prompts the players for the part of speech (such as “noun”, “verb” or “food”) needed to fill in the blank. An example could be as follows.

Her eyes shone like two noun (plural), and her hair was as adjective as animal fur.

Since the players don’t have the context of the story, the results often ends up comical on nonsensical like

Her eyes shone like two frying pans, and her hair was as tart as boar fur.

This will be the sanity paced Mad Lib, where you can take your time and fill out as much or as little of the form as you like. Your entries must be completed by Monday September 30 at 4:00 PM Central/2:00 PM Pacific The results of this game will be randomized from all submitted forms. All participants will be eligible for prizes whether or not their words were selected.


Rules and Info
- Using the code from the third post, post your mad lib words in this thread. Please do not alter the formatting of the code.
- For “Trait” prompts do not use unique or species-specific traits. You can see all of the traits on this page:http://samanayrs.com/traits.php
- Everyone who posts a form, whether or not their words are used, will be entered in for the prize pool.
- Prizes will not be revealed until after the event is completed.
- Please refrain from using "modern" or "real world" terms in your form (things like cell phone or Eifel Tower). This is to try and preserve world integrity.

Just so we’re all on the same page, here are some of the terms which may be encountered over the course of the Mad Lib with a short definition.

Noun: a noun is a word used to name a person, animal, place or thing; for example “puppy”, “tree”, “river”, “berry.” Do not use proper nouns like “Joe Montana” or “Central Park”.

Adjective: an adjective is a describing word, usually used to modify a noun such as "squishy" or "happy". For examples of adjectives check out this site

Verb: a verb is the part of speech that conveys an action (bring, read, walk, learn) or a state of being (be, exist, stand). Don’t worry about the conjugation of the verb (run/runs/running/ran etc), I’ll put the verb in whatever form is needed to fit the Mad Lib.

In the late days of summer, when the land is shiny and the heat burning many Samanyrs will gather near lakes or oceans for some relief from the heat. A roving gaggle of songless yearlings has descended upon a funny blue lake. The daylight hours are spent lurking in the water and looking lazily beneath the shady stumps. But when the sun goes down is when the fun begins! Night after night the Samanayrs gather around a small fire, provided by a rigid fire Mystic, to share stories and tonight is the night that Epiphany of the Unassuming Turtle will share her tale.

The illustrious mare waits entranced for a lull in the conversation before clearing her throat with a Vroom! to gain the attention of her companions. Seven pairs of eyes focus on the mare as she gets to her webbed paws. Striking an ornery pose Epiphany inquires “I know many of you have traveled far to be here, and I’m glad you all arrived safely.”

Eyes sparkling as she shakes out her double horns, Epiphany turns to face the smooth youngsters. “Did you know that this lake has a spooky past? It’s true! For generations, this very lake has been home to a horrible monster known as the Pebble-Shuffler!”

Epiphany begins to pace, showing flashes of her tan spotted hide in the firelight. “A long time ago, a group of Sharians settled here and used the lake to allude and toss. But something happened to them! In threes and threes they would disappear, leaving behind only a green button where they had fallen asleep…”

Epiphany continues tiptoeing, her emerald tail catching the light. “No one has ever seen the creature and shimmered to tell of it, but spiny sams will tell you that it’s hide is bright gold and mottled. It has terrible black eyes and horns shaped like corn! And it has a roar like ninty-nine crying snails!”

“But you know,” Epiphany grins, “It is only a story, after all…”

Nervous laughter and applause pass through the audience as they exchange a glance. One young illiayr snorts derisively, “Well I wasn't scared at all!” when suddenly there is a rustling in the bushes…

The youngsters blow closer together and someone calls out from the back, “Oh, haha Epiphany! Very funny!”

Epiphany slowly shakes her head, her blue eyes wide with fear, “That… wasn’t me…”

A bark of fear pierces the quiet of the night as the bushes thrash softly about. And just as the crowd turns to flee a young dragonet falls to the ground, sqeek piteously. The youngsters sigh in relief, and one bold youngster scoops up the hapless dragonet. The crowd returns to their places, waiting eagerly for the next story.
