Just a heads up
Hey everyone! I just wanted to let everyone know that I may be somewhat inactive for a bit.
My mom's cancer is progressing at a rather fast rate. This past weekend my sister took her to the ER because she was having trouble breathing. Now she is on oxygen 24/7 and someone must be with her at all times. My time is extremely stretched out between work and caring for mom. I'll still be around a bit during work hours, and I'll try to respond to all my outstanding RP's this week. I just don't know how active I will be, and I don't want to leave everyone in the dark as to why. Thank you all for being patient with me during this difficult time. <3

Re: Just a heads up
Hello everyone.
I wanted to give you all an update. Right now I'm sitting in the ICU on day 4 after my mom was rushed here from home when she had trouble breathing. She's got chronic pneumonia in both of her lungs. Meaning she cannot draw air in on her own and must wear a bypap mask 24/7. She is on an intravenous antibiotic as well as several other medications, steroids, and whatnot to keep her going. Her heart suffered from a heart attack caused by the pneumonia, and is very weak. Whenever she moves in the bed her heart rate drops drastically. I had hoped that she was doing better, and for about a day I thought she was. Today the doctor pulled my sister and I aside and informed us that her kidneys are now failing. We've come to the decision to make her as comfortable as possible, keep her sedated so that if she does pass on she can do it in her sleep. I'm 27 and my sisters are 19 and 16...I don't think that there will ever be anything more difficult for us to get through as a family. After three days without solid sleep and having my emotions so drained I just feel empty inside. Maybe tomorrow will be better, at least that's what I keep hoping whether or not it will be so.
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I'll be on every now and then while in the waiting room, and will regularly check my PM's if nothing else.

...*hugs you so hard*
I'm really, truly sorry. I sympathize so hard. Another friend of mine recently went through something similar with her mother, but she was the youngest of her siblings and didn't have that additional burden.
You and your family will be in my thoughts and hopes.

Re: Just a heads up
Steele wanted me to come and give everyone an update, so you know what's going on.
We thought that we would loose her mom on Wednesday, and then on Friday again. She held on and we held our breath. Today, however, the doctors told the family that she was living completely on the machines, and there was no way for her to live without them anymore. This was definitely not what she wanted. The decision was made to turn off the machines. She passed away at about 7pm.
Please bear with us for a few days as w handle the arrangements and pull ourselves together. Thank you so much, everyone for all your words of love and support.

I feel for you guys so, so much. If there's anything we can do to help, even if it's just listening, I speak for myself and I don't doubt others in the community in extending that help.
*hugs you all*

Awwww, I am so sorry for your loss! *hugs* Let me know if there's anything I can do for you, even if it's just someone to talk to
Re: Just a heads up
My condolences on the loss of your mother, Orasteele. I can't imagine the pain you're going through. How awful it must feel to lose a parent. Take as much time as you need. Don't worry about us; it's more important for you to be with your family right now. We'll be here when you are ready to come back. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers during these hard times.
